Tigers are young and ..............

Nov 5, 2017, 8:24 AM

there are a good number of players who are JRs or RSophs who, if they stay or if they turn pro will make a significant difference to this team in 2018.

We only have 2 SRS/GRs on Offense and they are both on the OL. We have significant depth there and, if we are able to snag 1 or 2 of the 5 stars that we are recruiting, we will be fine there. If our best OLineman leaves, Mitch Hyatt, that will present more of a problem. Cain is the only other one who might leave (dont look for Renfrow to do so but who knows) but Cain needs a lot of work. His effort and 50/50 ball skills leave a lot to be desired in certain situations. He could be a Mike Williams but he isnt now.

Defensively is where it will be make or break. Only 2 graduating players - Ryan Carter and Dorian O'Daniel, both very good to great players but replaceable. Lots of Jrs and RSophs on the DL which, if they stay, should make us the best D in the land next year but if they all leave, it will be a challenge because there appears to be a fairly significant drop off behind the starters.

A lot about next year will depend on who leaves and who stays - Hyatt, Cain, Wilkins, Ferrell, ABryant.....
