This raises an interesting qscenario about replay

Nov 16, 2013, 10:01 PM

Lets say he bobbled the ball when he hit the ground, the refs sees it and calls it incomplete.

Replay doesn't have an angle on the ball as he hits the ground (as it didn't in this case).

It looks like a probable catch, but at the same time we don't actually have any footage of the ball after he hits the ground.

Interesting scenario.

Should always stand as called, IMO

I tend to agree

But that makes me wonder about communication between the booth and the field. Does the field tell them why they called it incomplete?

Because in watching that replay maybe the booth thinks its incomplete because of the toe not being down, but maybe they see it as in. WIthout the refs telling them they thought it was bobbled when he hit the ground, it makes for an interesting call.

I think that's why it stood.***

if the ball is not in the palms of your hands, it is not a completion.
