11 year old Obed, home sick from school that day, watched live from home and yelled "MOM IT EXPLODED!!!!!"
This may be one of those Mandela things.....always feels like I was younger than 11 when it happened.

or 3rd grade, but it was 7th, which seems like it should be a clearer memory of exactly where I watched it. I remember seeing it happen, but I'm not positive if the TV I was watching was in school, or at my house that morning before school. Both seem correct.

in similar grades, only thing I can think of is 3rd grade, when they made a HUGE deal of a Space Shuttle launch and pretty much stopped school throughout the state to watch it in class.

One of my cold calls told me about it. He was very offended that I was calling at a time like that.
Had to wait and watch on the news when I got home. It was a different time.
That job taught me that I wouldn’t be able to sell ice cubes in hell.
