The difference: FSU vs ND "pick play"

Jan 16, 2017, 5:42 PM

The ND player initiates contact with the FSU defender....illegal, whereas for both Clemson plays the Bama defender initiates contact with the Clemson receiver.

This is FYI in case some idiot brings up the FSU vs ND game.

I think Saban missed this one anyway. The play should have been to grab every receiver and tackle them and i think only one guy got the message. Worst case PI on defense but time runs down and have to kick field goal if Deshaun does not run it in.

...to minimize that strategy because most would frown upon it even though it is legal. In addition to it being defensive interference when grabbing or tackling a receiver they should set the game clock back to the game time when the ref spots the ball.

head that said the play should have been a penalty. Even on the coaches film room, they questioned it for a second and then as soon as they saw the replay, said no it was a good no-call because the guy grabbed our guy, plus our guy never touched the guy that was actually covering the receiver. Most analyst have said it was brilliant play call by Clemson because of the defense Bama was running and that we knew Bama would grab the receiver as they had been all game. We used Bama's pushing of the envelope regarding the rule against them.
