After thinking about the must-read article that Crump posted a link to in regards to Deshaun Watson--and all the comments as the season winds down about Tnet favorites HR13 and CW42--let's start a depth chart on the 'Clemson Gentlemen' team of players who strike that perfect balance of immense talent but perhaps being even more respected for representing what Clemson stands for off the field. This is not just 'best ever to play the position list', but more of a first-team All-Human that also happended to all-ACC or all-American caliber players as well.
Here's my starter list--I'm just going off top of my head without much contemplation. Edit as needed, as I am definitely gonna miss some on the all-important OL as I didn't pay enough attention to that until recently. I'll go with 2 backs and 2 WR on offense for our longer history of run-orientation
Offense QB: Deshaun Watson RB: Banks McFadden RB: CJ Spiller TE: Dwight Clark WR: Hunter Renfrow WR: Perry Tuttle? Jerry Butler? Mike Williams? Tackles: Mitch Hyatt Guards: Joe Bostic, Stacy Seegars Center: Kyle Young
PK: Gardocki (or Catanzaro or Treadwell?)
Defense DE: Gaines Adams DT: Christian Wilkins DT: Michael Dean Perry DE: Clelin Ferrell LB: Jeff Davis LB: Levon Kirland LB: Anthony Simmons DB: Brian Dawkins DB: Terry Kinard DB: Robert Carswell DB: Donnell Woolford
I'm sure you could erase the chalkboard & put up another 2 dozen or more names that no one could argue with. Let's hear 'em
