"obstruction of congress"

Dec 10, 2019, 10:04 AM

is codified in 18 U.S. Code §?1505 as follows:

Whoever, with intent to avoid, evade, prevent, or obstruct compliance, in whole or in part, with any civil investigative demand duly and properly made under the Antitrust Civil Process Act, willfully withholds, misrepresents, removes from any place, conceals, covers up, destroys, mutilates, alters, or by other means falsifies any documentary material, answers to written interrogatories, or oral testimony, which is the subject of such demand; or attempts to do so or solicits another to do so; or

Whoever corruptly, or by threats or force, or by any threatening letter or communication influences, obstructs, or impedes or endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede the due and proper administration of the law under which any pending proceeding is being had before any department or agency of the United States, or the due and proper exercise of the power of inquiry under which any inquiry or investigation is being had by either House, or any committee of either House or any joint committee of the Congress—

Shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 5 years or, if the offense involves international or domestic terrorism (as defined in section 2331), imprisoned not more than 8 years, or both.

Lol they’re literally trying to get him for not cooperating with their constitutional-shredding clown show Impeachment inquiry.

They need to be lined up and executed.

So laws don't apply to the president?

Dec 10, 2019, 10:14 AM

what's he scared of?

He should have let them go in there and say what they wanted to say.

Why ensure they don't?

Go ahead and try to ignore one of those yourself and see what happens. I guess we have a King now.

Which is opposite of America.

But the fact is we had a transcript the WH itself published

Dec 10, 2019, 10:25 AM

that shows something wrong.

Why scream about due process then when due process is offered you decline?

Reminder: Investigation of candidate Biden for corruption is election interference and impeachable, but investigation and impeachment of candidate Trump is A-ok.

Reminder: Asking a foreign country to announce

Dec 10, 2019, 10:41 AM

an investigation into your biggest political rival at the time or you won't go through with an already agreed upon deal is perfectly ok.

Biden should release a statement asking Russia to release all dirt they have on Trump and he will ensure that all sanctions against Russia are removed when he takes office.

Let's see if Republicans are ok with that.

Kinda like when 3 Democratic US Senators sent this letter to the Ukraine asking for dirt on Trump in 2018? Biden could actually use this letter with just a few changes.

You see what you want to see, regardless of facts. If Obama had done exactly the same you'd be marching in the streets with pitchforks. Truth has no party and is not subjective.

Did you watch the impeachment hearings?

Dec 10, 2019, 10:43 AM [ in reply to That's BS and you know it. Any half decent lawyer can twist ]

it was interesting how the democratic lawyers and witnesses didn't seem to have a problem getting "tripped up" while the opposite was also true for Republicans. This is of course the very very very few times GOP Congressmen actually asked the witnesses a question and didn't use their 5 minutes of time grandstanding.

Hell look at how bad the Republican counsel did against questioning yesterday.

Once again, it's tough to get tripped up when the truth is on your side

Yeah, it was so cool yesterday the way they asked the Harvard lawyer questions, then invited him up to the stage and let him pretend to be a congressman and ask questions.

Perfectly normal in clown court

Well, we’re supposed to be a Republic

Dec 10, 2019, 12:00 PM

But reading the comments, it seems many people here seem to prefer to be ruled by a despot.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, yes. They do.

Dec 10, 2019, 3:06 PM

Unfortunately, there's good evidence that most humans crave the simplicity and security of being ruled. They crave a strong man to reign over them, particularly if they believe him to hold fast to their ideals or view of the world. They'll gladly ignore the other features he has that contradict their viewpoints; to them, holding on to what the does echo in their voices is all that matters.

Some of our founding fathers even warned of this. It's partly why they tried their damnedest to create a system that would rein in a wanna-be dictator because they knew he would have the backing of millions. That's partly why I want impeachment to succeed at all costs: a shot needs to be fired across the bow of the executive branch, which has grown too powerful over several presidencies.

But that's why the Trump folks adore him and love him. He's a strong man authoritarian who bucks what they see as inconvenience in our pesky Republic. If you ask them, they'll say they really believe in the Constitution and the Republic. But they would gladly surrender those ideals to make a guy like Trump more powerful, because in their minds, he would be defeating people and ideas they think are detrimental to America.

I'll name names. Memphis. ClemsonTiger88. Ineligible User. This new T3Tiger guy or whatever. Bengaline. Xtiger. They're the ones who make excuses for Trump no matter what he does. People who crave an authoritarian savior will always excuse his atrocities.

They want to be ruled.
