The best DB we've ever had - no doubt.....

Jul 22, 2020, 8:05 PM

about it. And one of the best high school players to ever come out of SC (Sumter).

He was so good, I remember seeing him purposely

lay off receivers and bait the QB into throwing it his way. Then, he would swoop in for the interception.

DeAndre McDaniel would do that too.
No fly zone.

He also played basketball in high school. I saw him jump over a guy in Sumter. The guy he jumped over was standing pretty erect. He faked a pass, terry jumped and the other guy dribbled under terry while he was in the air. Dude could jump.

I believe Terry Kinard also had an interception in the 1981 NCG against Nebraska that pretty much sealed the deal...? Please bear in mind, my memory is what I forget with....

Go Tigers!!!

one of the few to win a national player of the year award...

Jul 23, 2020, 1:00 PM

I remember watching the Cotton Bowl that year and they announced on TV that he was the National Defensive Player of the Year. I think the game was Georgia vs Texas but Kinard was there because we couldn't play in a bowl. He played for awhile with the NY Giants.

You make it sound like he just showed up and dressed a few games for them!

Jeez man, he played 7 years for them and 1 yr with the Oilers . . . He had 31 career interceptions in the NFL . . . He was a Pro Bowler . . . He was on a Super Bowl Championship Team . . . He did much more than "play for awhile"!!!
