Teasdall is 114 out 116 punters in punt avg. @ 37.7 yds

Dec 8, 2016, 9:51 PM

In reality he's actually dead last, but his ACC Championship game 34.5 punt average hasn't gone towards the NCAA statistics they keep on record. We're 106 out 128 in net Punting. Not good numbers.

I'd love to see us maybe go to a rugby style kick so we can get more length on our punts.

Still,113 dudes couldn't pull that off. That's impressive.****

Poor metric. DW4 leads the offense and therefore the O almost always gains yards on drives. If they stall out from the 45 on he is doing the job by pinning them inside the 20. The improvement in net punting shows that there were a lot fair catches.

Not saying he is the best punter but there is more to it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I disagree. When we do move the ball we rarely punt

Dec 8, 2016, 10:25 PM

We usually score or turn it over. Not that much in between. Let's not pretend that his punt avg is low because we're always kicking from the 50. If you've watched every game, you'd know he only kicks the ball about 35 yds no matter where he kicks on the field.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That VT punter made Teasdall look that much worse

Dec 9, 2016, 2:12 AM

Guy was hitting 50yrds+ everytime and Andy was getting 30yrds.. they flipped field with punting several times.

That is not the case at all. He has short punts no matter where he is on the field. Unfortunately, he just isn't a very good punter. We need to raid Australia and find one of those rugby players that turn out to be nfl punters. There are plenty of them over there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No. 1) He's had plenty of opportunities to punt from

Dec 9, 2016, 8:02 AM [ in reply to Re: Teasdall is 114 out 116 punters in punt avg. @ 37.7 yds ]

further inside our own territory and he's consistently short on those as well. 2) He's actually pretty terrible at pinning teams. When he's kicking from the ~50 he kicks the ball about 40 yards straight in the air to somewhere around the 15-20 every single time. You have to get that ball down to at least around the 10 and NEVER does.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's number one in Punter QBR, and he NEVER outkicks

Dec 8, 2016, 10:07 PM

the coverage. That's something right there.

I'd complain about the .gov asking me for 35k in taxes

but I get where you are coming from! Lol

How is this analogy even relevant to the original post?

Dec 9, 2016, 8:21 AM [ in reply to if you win a 100,000 Mercedes in a raffle ]

The guys complaint about punting is a legitimate concern and known weakness of our team. There's no excuse for it and we'd like to understand why the staff can't seem to completely resolve special teams issues. They cost us a natty for crying out loud. How are you going to insinuate that this guy is just a complainer?

Try not to be so trigger happy on that keyboard brah.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We need to get serious about our kickers

Dec 9, 2016, 7:55 AM

And start recruiting them again. These walk on kickers are hurting our team. The VT game is a perfect example. Teasdale is a redshirt GRADUATE. He should be booming them from our 20-30 and putting it within the 10 when we're near the 50.

Have been asking this for years. Why do we consistently choose to be average in the kicking game..

The position can win of lose games at times and we just look it over it seems

Well of course there's the popular debate that we are giving schollys to legacy kids that could otherwise go to top ranked HS kickers.

Huegel has been amazing. Punters not kickers!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We need one of these Aussie punters!***

he's also tied for 2nd in the nation with a 12-1 Record...

just saying

Be positive!

Go Tigers

Honestly, i admit its a concern. Last year it was ALL special teams which hurt us. Now it seems we have fixed the coverage problems but punting seems to have cost us some major field position and momentum at times
