Although it'd be sad to see him leave, he has definitely paid his dues and would be a lucky hire for some school.

But If he wants to eventually be a HC, I'd rather start out at a place with low expectations like South Alabama, rather than Tennessee

That's the one thing you have to respect about Bama losing coaches every year and still in the hunt.

All 3 deserve it, selfishly though I hope we don't lose all 3. Need to keep the continuity and momentum going.

Most likely Streeter would be our OC, he was the OC for Liberty and Richmond in the FCS ranks and consistently put out top 20 offenses.

I think Streeter would fill in fine. I'm not sure who could replace Venebles. Losing Scott would hurt with recruiting a great deal.

That is why "MOST" schools that get on top don't stay on top all that long, and Bama is one of the exceptions, hopefully we will be an exception also!!!!

Yeah, they all deserve it but the grass is not always greener. Sure wouldn't leave for the South Alabama job though. I guess you got to start somewhere.
My biggest concern is the recruits - that and losing CBV. He's the one that needs to stay. Our offense will be just fine imo. Just wouldn't ever be the same without Coach V on the sidelines.

recruiter and solid Clemson guy. He would more than likely take a pay cut to go to South Alabama. He makes around $800k at Clemson. South Alabama paid their head coach $535k in 2017. I'm sure Jeff Scott wants to be a head coach someday so pay isn't everything and this may be a good starting opportunity to open that doorway for him.
I personally would rather he hold out for a little higher profile job - think he has earned it and will eventually get a better offer down the road.

South Alabama???

Kudos to South Alabama for over-reaching. But, if I'm Jeff, I'm not even returning their phone call. Coordinators from National Championship teams look for Power 5 Head Coaching jobs, unless there are weird circumstances (like Kiffen).
And South Alabama can't even afford Jeff's current salary! Is he going to take a $200,000 pay cut to leave Clemson and run the show in Mobile, AL? I'm offended on Jeff's behalf.

Exactly. Kirby Smart took the HC at UGA, not some directional school.
Having just said that, UCF (for Tony Elliott) could be a great opportunity. The recruiting area is fantastic, and they seem willing to spend to be competitive.

Does Street become a CO-OC if one leaves?
Who is on Dabo's short list for OC and DC in the event we loose one or both?

Personally, I think we should pony up with all the assistants and make them the highest paid assistance in college football.

If I am not mistaken Dabo has said before he always encourages his staff to interview when asked just for that reason

I do not want to speculate about what other job they would accept. I want to enjoy all our coaches and players as long as they are here. I plan to support any decision they make about their future and eagerly follow their careers and I do now with Chad Morris. I find myself stopping and watching SMU whenever they are on TV. He is doing a great job at SMU and expect him to put a contender for that conference on the field next year. I do not expect him to leave SMU this year.

Thoughts and Musings:
Dec 5, 2017, 11:51 AM
|
|
1. Hasn't Dabo already stated he knew who B Venables replacement would be if or when the move up happens? If that's true, then why would it not be on the offensive side also.
2. Experience in several jobs is important in being able to have the vision to run a big program. We might want one of those guys to come back some day.
3. A program needs new blood and ideas lest it become stale and predictable.
4. Beat Alabama !!!

His family has been very important to our success. Tommy Bowden may not have won enough here, but him hiring Dabo and Brad Scott(which brought Jeff here) has obviously been a huge part of what we have going for us right now.

Jeff is getting experience at interviewing, I don't see Jeff leaving Clemson with his dad Brad Scott still working at Clemson, those two have been side by side since Jeff was a pup tripping on the back of his dads shoes following every step that Brad made!!!
