Nick Saban tests positive for COVID-19

Not great news to report tonight. Alabama head coach Nick Saban has tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. Currently, Saban reportedly has no symptons. "I f Read Update »

The SEC knows they suck this year and Clemson

will roll every single team. They are trying to cancel their season or have built in excuses as to why they are going to get their azzes kicked. So apparent.

If the SEC heads that are in charge of that conference was to get a hint that they were at risk of Not getting one of their better teams in the playoffs, I'm positive they would cancel the season for all SEC teams even if most of their teams hadn't had One case of covid-19 reported during the season!!!

And yet I've always thought of him as being the negative type.

But with that being said, I wish the man a quick and complete recovery.

Agreed. Saran is no spring chicken, but seems like he is in good health.

Ditto re: speedy recovery. If Kirby manages to beat Bama with Nick not on the field, but yet communicating remotely with Sarkesian, will Nick acknowledge that he finally lost to one of his former assistants? I’m not sure it should count against Saban, but think it will be a moot issue as Dawgs go home with their stubby tails tucked. Get well Nick. Your daddy Dabo looks forward to beating you yet again. Winning, winning, winning.

Sorry, but I see no reason to believe Saban would ever acknowledge Kirby in any way. For any reason.
Kirby couldn’t coach his way through a Thai whorehouse with 5k in his wallet and a translator.

For Saban to communicate from home, he would need a live feed without announcers or replay.

It is illegal for coaches in the booth to have replay which is why Freeze was in a hospital bed in a skybox last year.

They could put Saban in his own skybox, but the optics would look bad.

why would the optics look bad?

Oct 15, 2020, 11:50 AM

If they can logistically make it work and could make a box available and he is still not showing symptoms and uses proper PPE and precautions going to and from the box, I see no problem with it. He would be isolated and quarantined to his own area which they can easily disinfect after the game. Where's the bad optics?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think any other coaches have done that

Oct 15, 2020, 12:20 PM

I would assume they would have if it was at all feasible.

I'm surprised without Alabama the NCAA has proactively cancelled the season.

Yes and if his coaching gig somehow ends short of retirement, Nick has demonstrated some awesome acting prowess. Man, he is really bad in the most recent Aflac commercial in his blue jacket.
