TN might want to consider bringing in Spurrier...

Jan 19, 2021, 7:11 AM

The old ball coach could turn it around possibly. A 3 season or so run with a set successor in place. If they have serious violations (it sounds like they may) then the NCAA could limit scholarships/bowls etc which will limit who wants to jump into that mess.

Steele may get it otherwise by default.

Why would Spurrier want this mess ,and why would Tennessee want to mess around with this loser.

Spurrier won in Columbia - therefore, he can win anywhere***

I know Spurrier grew up just outside of Knoxville, but that would be the irony of all ironies.

Spurrier loved to poke fun at TN even more than he liked to poke fun at UGA.

"You can't spell Citrus without UT" was one of his favorite digs at TN during the Peyton Manning years.

Spurrier HATED UT. Ironically, he was born in Florida, then his family moved to eastern Tennessee... Johnson City I think. Most of the UT folks assumed he would go to Knoxville to play. He hated that assumption and when he did not go to the Vols, well eastern TN is not a nice place to be....

His hatred for UT was the only reason he coached the coots. It was his opportunity to poke UT in the eye. It is no wonder that UT collapsed as a program after Spurrier started as a coot... because no way would UT survive as a program if they couldn't beat a coot.

That fanbase would never accept Spurrious. They will

never forget his repeated digs, "You can't spell Citrus (Bowl) without UT."

Translating for you youngun's Tennessee was actually a contender for the SEC most years when Spurrier was at Flurida. He took particular glee in beating them and sending them to the Citrus Bowl instead of one of the more major ones. They would be JOYOUS to get an invite to that prestigious of a bowl nowadays. :)

Spurrier was raised in Tennessee...

and UT fans still feel shunned that he decided to attend Florida even though Tennessee never offered Spurrier a football scholarship.

Yet another area where UT fans and uof6c fans are similar.

They are both so desperate for football success that they would both knowingly, willingly and gladly compromise what little is left of the character and integrity of the school, the coaches and the players if they though for one second it would result in more wins.
