At this point, I would be very nervous if I were 1. A professional athlete - watching a baseball game without fans is akin to watching cutigerbob® at his accounting practice. Not entertaining...and I realized I hadn't missed sports as much as I thought. 2. A 'can't miss' prospect currently in college. My athleticism brought me to this point...where do I turn next if there's no professional avenue? 3. A 'can't miss' high school athlete who viewed college as a stepping stone to a professional career. The colleges that would have given me a full ride...would they have accepted me on my scholastic accomplishments, alone? 4. In sports media...pick a forum...even T-Net. What happens when the 'horse has nowhere to run'? 5. Colleges and, in particular, those who hitched their wagons to football and hoops prowess. The money pits are shrinking...rapidly. 6. Dependent upon a college town livelihood...in whatever form. The math isn't hard to do on this. 7. A professional attached to the above in any form...coach, administration, entrepreneur......ouch! 8. In government...the 'gut punch' on tax receipts.
Is sport gone? Nope...don't believe so. Will their be retrenchment and pain, directly and collaterally? Hard to say there won't be. Rambling...concluded...
