Somewhat disgusted.

Nov 21, 2014, 3:40 PM

We need to beat SC this year, and put the world back in order.

I choose to blame the ridiculous nature of the "majority" of the threads here, at least those with any views , on the fact that the world will not be right as long as the chickens own us on the football field.

Reading the boards here is like spending time in some kind of bizzaro world, (Seinfeld reference). It seems as if I am reading a FGF board from 5 years ago. Tigernet now has all the traits of a SC board,

1. Total disrespect vocalized for players that have been in the program for years. (more than just Cole BTW)
2. A stadium atmosphere that tolerates the booing of our own players and coaches.
3. Viscous fighting between groups of supposedly dedicated Clemson fan factions.
4. Repeated ridiculous threads about Dabos competence, Chad's abilities...until this season Bent V's ability.
5. Heck there have been multiple threads here "dissing" on Rodriguez about his level of contribution to the program , and his money making book deal (like that is some kind of negative) and etc. WTH have we become here. He has gotten Clemson more value in PR by far than the cost of his scholarship.
6. We have had multiple threads questioning Dabo's judgement in recruiting? Recruiting for goodness sake? people saying that he is wasting scholarships on kids because of nepotism? Are you kidding me...recruiting is not amongst our issues at Clemson these days. A team consists of more than 5 stars. And there is a big role that legacy recruits can play in a program.
7. Attempts by idiots on this board to "qualify" the rights of fans tio be fans of the program. What a bunch of crap. does that mean that a parent of a kid that comes to play for Clemson is not qualified to have an opinion or be recognized as a valuable fan if they didn't attend Clemson? How about a person that has worked at Clemson for 30 years and fell in love with the place but never attended as a student.

What a bunch of chicken like fans we have become!

Again, I am going to blame this on the fact that we have lost 5 in a row to those cluckers in Columbia. I hope that ends this month! In the meantime some of us on the board need to figure out whether Clemson is a "different kind of place" or not.

If I had not been attending Clemson games since the 60's, a student from 79 -83, been born-bred-and- exposed to Clemson all my life, and knew about Clemson based on this board I would think that Clemson was nothing more than another football school in the state of SC.

Boy am I ready for a few wins over the cluckers.

Clemson leads, 65-42-4

Listen Whistle, you have to be smarter than that. Well maybe not, the chicken losing streak may have had a negative impact on your cognitive skills. I hope that it is reversible.

We have a handful of players that have excelled of late in the NFL. We continue to execute at a high level in recruiting. To build an elite program , it takes a long stream of the kind of recruiting that we have seen to build depth and respect.

It is easy to see a skill position player make an impact in a program. It is nowhere near as easy to see that impact in the trenches. To get the attention of the big bodies, you have to be proven in the area of getting the skill guys. Then you start getting the attention of everybody. Look at the OL recruits this year. Who are you comparing us to Alabama (been recruiting at his level for 25 years?)

You also have to be somewhat fortunate , to get a program there quicker. You hate to see the mid season burning of red-shirt years. You hate to see missing on a kid with the talent of Chad Kelly. What you don't do , is let that kid stay in your program without major changes in behavior.

I am not sure what many of you are looking for in a football program and school, but when I take a look around at other schools and how the approach things...I like being able to call myself a Clemson fan/alumn/son/father/husband..advocate.

And yes I also want to win a national championship.

After reading some of the idiotic posts the past few weeks, it's easy to see what they want:

1] A national championship every year, year in, year out, starting in 2010.
2] Anything less than #1, fire the head coach.
3] Next year, no natty, fire the head coach.
4] 5 star recruits only.
5] Alabama style non-commitment to players.
a] Over-recruit by 30%, somebody better comes in, you're cut. Sorry, Charlie
b] Get hurt, get your butt out of here, we need the scholly. You should have been more careful.
6] Did I mention a national championship every year?

Just think of the loyalty that would build. Players and coaches would be beating down the door at CU to get in.

Prove to me this is not what you want. You may deny it, but words mean things. Your words show that only what was posted above would satisfy you.

(And by "you" I mean those that are acting like this, not Esso)

Nice post man and I agree, but 3 things went wrong.

1. Freedom of Speech
2. Anonymity
3. Dumba$$edness

I do, however, feel that if you looked at football unobjectively as a business, you would notice that what keeps said business running is the passion of the fans. This passion is what drives us to every home game, it's what makes us yell and scream at those games, and it's what gives us that swelling of pride when our team wins. An unfortunate side-effect that comes with that, though, is the things you are complaining about now.

You have to roll with the bad to enjoy the good. You can't have a season as disappointing as this one and expect fans to be quiet. That's like asking people to stand on hot coals and say "Nope, not hot!" Eventually, someone is going to scream!!! Your issue seems to be that people have CHOSEN to let this place be their place to scream. This is where my argument begins to circle in on itself because once again, I say you have to take the bad with the good.

I like these boredz. I love our fan base. I love my alma mater. So what...people complain. Let's just be friends and buy EVERYONE beers!

P.S. If I see ONE MORE post about alum vs. non-alum though, I am taking a 2 day break to let that fad blow over. Ridiculous argument and ridiculous the amount of topics being started over it.

Do not miss understand my points. There is a difference between being critical , and being an anonymous idiot with a keyboard and advocating throwing the baby out with the bath water.

And as far as free speech goes, I am all for it. And as such feel perfectly fine stating . Many of the threads here make Clemson look just like every other college football fan base. We Used to be able to claim that we were different. Just saying...

Nov 21, 2014, 7:21 PM

The apathetic attitude towards losing to the Chickens. Years ago just one loss to the chickens would effect each fan like fingernails on a chalkboard. Today losing 5 straight just kinda gets sweep under the rug and is kinda bad but hey we beat OSU so it's all ok. Don't get me wrong, I love beating LSU, Auburn, Georgia, and OSU and winning the Orange Bowl and ACC, but losing to South Carolina over and over has been the most gut wrenching painful experience I have felt in 35 years of following Clemson.

25 years is a short period of time. I was at games before the first upper deck was built, and if tiger fans had booed our team or players in the stands then ...they may have been escorted out (if they were lucky). As for thumbs down on my original post...coudn't care less.

Spurrier's a Genius

Nov 21, 2014, 9:37 PM

You can post all you want to, about wins and losses, turnovers, etc. The fact is, Spurrier has owned Dabo last few seasons. Plain and simple. Beat the OBC and he'll go away. He's a genius, he's convinced all Scar fans that beating CU is more important than winning the SEC. Why do you think he constantly talks about CU? He realizes, he's NEVER going to win an SEC Champ at Scar. So what the next best thing? Beating CU... Think about it. Brilliant strategy really. He making $$, while you morons keep posting about him. His legacy is complete - He's laughing at you ### Clowns everyday

This Coot thinks Spurrier is a genius.
Geniuses don't lose football games by the handful to unranked teams when they have them down 14 in the last quarter of a game.
I think the old guy has lost it. I think Dabo is about to show what Spurrier has had is now kinda gone.
Good luck , Coot.
