Social Media Rule?

Sep 9, 2020, 10:32 AM

Did Dabo waive this rule about not posting during the season? Asking for a friend!

It's not Dabo's rule.***

"IDIOT POSTER OF THE MONTH SO FAR...GWP-- You have won IPM Award for your failure to completely comprehend a clear post & then choose to attack someone who points out your ignorance. While you are not yet in the same No Class Catagory as deRoberts, ClemTiger117 & Tigerdug23, you are getting closer to the Sewer Dwellers." - coachmac

He has said that it was never his rule. It was initiated by the seniors a number of years ago in order to gain football focus and was repeated by subsequent senior classes until it was determined by this year's seniors that the 2020 environment could benefit from the players using their platform to express their beliefs for the benefit of themselves and others.

One way to look at the change is to say that if the reason to avoid social media was to gain football focus, the decision to allow social media during football season is an admission that football focus is not the most important thing.

Perhaps both can be accomplished and some will say that elevating social issues will make the team closer and better, while some will say it will destroy team unity and achievement.

Time will tell, but they have a lot of talent to work with.

It will be fine as long as everyone continues to support the false narrative that cops are out to get them based on their race and the whole world is holding them back because of racism. Sooner or later a player will do a little research and learn they are 10,000 times more likely to be shot by a civilian who is black than a cop and the whole thing will get ugly

The seniors voted to allow social media posting during the season but not on the weekends around the games.

This was the language of the old social media rule per a Clemson document from last year I believe:
Senior Leadership Rule: NO Social Media during season! NO Twitter,
Instagram, Vine, Periscope, Facebook, Snapchat, social communication,
etc…will be monitored closely. We do not need distractions. NO phone
conversations once bus is loaded on Saturday until game is over.
