Is global warming still a thing?

Jun 24, 2020, 7:39 AM

Or is there enough chaos going around to put that on the back burner until another crisis is needed?

What’s the carbon footprint of a burning building?

It’s too bad the rainforests were before the hashtag time

By weather.com meteorologists May 13, 2020

All-time May record lows were set Saturday morning, May 9, in Binghamton, New York (24 degrees); Fort Wayne, Indiana (23 degrees); Indianapolis (27 degrees); New York's LaGuardia Airport (36 degrees) and Jackson, Kentucky (30 degrees). State College, Pennsylvania (27 degrees), New York's JFK Airport (34 degrees) and London, Kentucky (28 degrees), tied their all-time May records Saturday morning.

Good fact though, thx

yes, the whole weather vs climate argument, It has been a while since we had to discuss how disingenuous it is, or simply if it is an indicator of the lack of intelligence of the poster. In your case I think it needs no discussion .

Anyone trying to politicize climate change is a moron.

Jun 24, 2020, 8:22 AM

Politicize the solutions to climate change.

storms we've experienced these past five years is a result of global warming and climate change. The colder polar vortex system operating around the north pole is weakening as overall temperatures rise and ice melts and recedes in coverage. This allows for the warmer, wetter weather systems from the south to mix in more frequently, pulling the weaker colder air masses out and down south in exchange. This of course exacerbates the problem even more as the weakening furthers ice melts, which furthers the weakening, and so on.

First of all- it climate change

Jun 24, 2020, 7:52 AM

That way it’s happening no matter what direction the temperatures go.

And yes, they didn’t feel that the climate changers had enough fight to get Trump out of office... so they went with the current strategy.

Re: First of all- it climate change

Jun 24, 2020, 8:53 AM

You guys are SO SMART.

Virtually every man of science in the world - I'd say 99% - believes in climate change. The only ones who don't are the ones who are paid not to. They're basically identical to all the "experts" that Big Tobacco trotted out to deny cigarettes caused cancer...but Big Oil learned its lessons from watching all those billionaire tobacco-company owners get dragged in front of Congress and eviscerated; the oil guys, they decided, were going to insinuate themselves so thoroughly into the GOP they'd always have protection.

Most anti-climate-change "science" was sponsored by none other than Republican mega-donors Charles and David Koch...who made their initial load, not surprisingly, as oilmen. The fascinating part is how the Koch Brothers actually sponsored legitimate science - including shows like NOVA on PBS, of all things! - so they could claim their "science foundation" has some legitimate merit, but ultimately it's a PR outreach, giving their lobbyists and advocates "scientific" papers and studies they can selectively cite to continue to deny climate change is happening even as it literally happens right in front of our faces.

And of course, the partisan derps - that would be you guys - duly pick it up and parrot this reality-defying drivel. While claiming to be "independent thinkers". It'd be entertaining to watch you fellas try to muddle through a chem class.

Mind, climate change isn't even a hard equation. The Earth's air has stuff in it. The more heavier stuff you put in it, the more heat it traps. Easy concept, right?

If we want to avoid cooking ourselves slowly and eventually killing ourselves off, we need to filter some of that stuff - which science guys call "carbon" - back out, so the Earth stays the right temperature.

Well, gee golly. Not hard at all, right?

So many assumptions here Q...

Jun 24, 2020, 10:04 AM

Is the climate changing? Yes.

Has the climate changed throughout the history of Earth? Yes.

Are humans responsible for all climate change? No.

What percent are humans responsible for? No one really knows.

Do humans contribute? Yes.

Should we try to take care of the environment? Yes.

Does that mean trillions of dollars from US tax revenues? No.

If AOC was correct when she said we had 12 years left about 3 years ago, then we will all be dead from climate in 9 years

I guess that’s why it’s not in the news much. We have 9 years before we all die from climate change, but only 1 year until we all die from covid.
