Maybe I missed this discussion...but have noticed several games where the Tigers try a short kickoff and the ball always goes out of bounds on the sidelines. Is this by design? If so why? Bradley Pinion obviously has shown he can drill one into and sometimes beyond the endzone which results in a touchback preventing our opponent from running it back - so why get cute?
but ever since the rule change from bringing the ball out to the 25 rather than the 20, It's usually a smarter play (if you have good coverage) to not blast it through the endzone and give them 25 free yards if you can kick it high and short and get to them before they get to the 25.
