They arent ever joining a conference. They want a preferred position not to be a group equal.

making sure Notre Dame has a schedule to play this year. It DOES NOT mean allowing Notre Dame to compete as a full member regarding championship game eligibility. They never want that during a regular year so why would that be part of the deal now.
