There is enough of everything to pick and choose a particular emphasis. For some it's forgiveness. For some it's retribution/revenge. For some it's defending what you believe. For some it's capitalism. For some it's charity. For some its big government. For some it was slavery.For some it's equality. For some it's war. For others it's pacifism.

And just like song lyrics, people can derive totally different meaning/usefulness than what the person who wrote it intended.

The bible was written with the intent of being the "living word" that allows individuals to hear from God each time they read it on a personal level. There are different interpretations of the same verses because they were meant for different people at different times.

The same verse I read two years ago would speak to me in a totally different way today. As was it's intent.
