What allows Clemson and Bama to stand apart?
1) Giant universities where players feel the love from their classmates.
2) Average to below average entry requirements
3) unlimited Access to JUCOs to fill any holes immediately.
4) Climate

Post the link of the ND site.

1. Clemson is a Giant university. Roughly around 23 to 24 thousand! In 1017 Google indicates OSU had 66, 000 enrolled for comparison sake. **got it off google home fact check if you want**.

2. Clemson's entry requirements are greater than 80% of schools playing college football; including Alabama!

3. Dabo doesn't use JUCO players! I don't think Bama does either! So false -for sure as it relates to Clemson.

4. Climate - I have heard this argument from Big 10 fans before. Boo Hoo! This has to be the lamest excuse of them all.

I’ll give a dozen TUs to the guy who can name the last junior college player the Tigers had on the roster. I truly can not think of a single one.

THE “climate” at Clemson is without question the best,

Wasnt a JUCO but dabo did accept a QB transfer from i think it was stanford back in 2014? Jonathan Meeks was a JUCO i believe and Shaq Lawson.

Both were recruited by Dabo and needed an extra year to qualify academically.

Hargrave is a prep school not a JUCO

Dec 20, 2020, 11:53 AM [ in reply to Re: found on ND site ]

Just to clarify, Lawson and Meeks went to Hargrave which is not a JUCO. Hargrave is a prep school, and they went for a year to get their academics in order. When they came to Clemson they were like any other recruit with 5 years to play 4.

Re: found on ND site

I know in the case of Meeks - he needed some classroom work so he went to prep school(Hargrave). If he hadn't needed that he would have come straight to Clemson. Probably the same story for the others.

Let's just call it a rare thing. And, there was probably a relationship prior to them going to another school!

I don't remember any since.

That’s just ignorant.

Dec 20, 2020, 11:12 AM

There are dozens of schools with the same climate at Clemson.

All schools have access to Jucos and Clemson doesn’t use that option.

We compete for the same players. No blue chip can get into Clemson that can’t get into ND.

I dare say we are the second smallest enrollment in the top ten after ND.

That’s just a silly post.

yeah, but ND gets dibs on the best Catholic players like BYU gets the best Mormons. It is laughable if they don't think they have a huge recruiting advantage.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lets debunk together ...

Dec 20, 2020, 11:19 AM

1a) Giant? ND has just over 8k students. They are a private school that is far smaller than nearly every major program state university. While comparatively true, Clemson is not "giant" when compared to other traditional powers. This is weak because they can claim size in nearly every situation.

1b) Do the ND students not support their team? Tbh, I'm not sure if this is an attack or a compliment ...

2) prepscholar.com rates for admissions difficulty in their "Final Admissions Verdict" both ND and Clemson as "Strongly Competitive". So while some stats are different -- overall, about the same.
Find details here:
https://www.prepscholar.com/sat/s/colleges/Clemson-SAT-scores-GPA

https://www.prepscholar.com/sat/s/colleges/Notre-Dame-admission-requirements

3) um ... do they even know Clemson? I couldn't find a single JUCO transfer during the Dabo era.
See these as counterpoints:
See this article: https://www.si.com/college/notredame/football/notre-dame-building-through-transfers

https://www.onefootdown.com/2020/6/18/21293849/notre-dame-football-the-growing-importance-of-graduate-transfers-for-the-irish-skoronek-recruiting

4) well. yeah. got me there. There is a reason they call this God's country boyo.

Years ago there was this really good player (quarterback)

Dec 20, 2020, 11:32 AM

From South Carolina named RICE who went to ND and became a very successful player and student. I remember Coach Ford was irate when Clemson denied him admission! I am not sure that this is true but I do remember the situation very well.

Rice became a record setting QB in South Bend

ANYONE REMEMBER THIS?

Rebuttal

Dec 20, 2020, 11:43 AM

Clemson is hardly a “giant” university
Clemson’s entrance requirements are very stringent
Clemson hasn’t had a JUCO football player in forever
Clemson’s climate is better than South Bend, but that applies to most universities

I forgot about that. NC State and Rock Hill, SC native Nick McCloud(South Pointe).

Irish fans are losers if they follow up these angles as to why they lost and will continue to lose to Clemson!

***Also, as someone else stated, it is disgusting northern mid-west mindset that makes folks think they have an intellect advantage on anybody from "the South"! True ignorance there friends - as it's based on stereotypes and mis-information. But, as pointed out, Big 10 schools, Northern schools always end up going there (academic standards) after getting their tails cut.

Always interesting...

Dec 20, 2020, 12:24 PM

...these clowns always throw in something about low entry standards or no requirements to attend class to play at Clemson.

All part of the Mid-West/North ignorance and anti-South bigotry they are taught since birth. Over and over this same disgusting angle when they excuse their latest loss.

- Giant? hahahahaha, "little ol Clemson" ...

2) Average to below average entry requirements
- hahahahahahahahahaha

3) unlimited Access to JUCOs to fill any holes immediately.
- Clemson doesn't hav e any JUCO's do they? We don't even have any transfers.

4) Climate
- yes its warmer in SC than Northern Indiana, in the summer and fall its actually reversed, the weather in Indiana is probably more conducive to workouts and training
