I have a large Sear's wet-dry vac (2 inch hose), I sucked the snake into the vac. Now the next problem...

Call Animal Control or an exterminator

If it is small you could perhaps use a garden hoe to lift the skimmer into a Large Trash Can and quickly cover with lid.
Full grown, I'd problably call someone to assist.

I'll assume the skimmer has a cover on the pool deck...

And, we are talking about the safety of humans...not snakes.
Get a shovel...you need a wide surface to smack the snake with so you don't have to swing too accurately.
Use something at least three feet long to remove the skimmer cover. Get ready with the shovel.
As soon as the snake gets his head over solid concrete...lights out.
Good luck, report back.

Water moccasins are pretty non-aggressive, so carefully pick

it up by it's tail. It should be docile enough to carry to and drop over the other side of the fence.
Oh, and if your wife isn't busy, get her to take video of it.

Its actually easy to kill it in the skimmer. If you use the handle end of a shovel or hoe, you can corral it in flat spot and just mash it until you see blood. It works with small snakes. But if that fails, just put on a thick pair of gloves, or even shoes on your hands, and try to avoid the fangs

that takes all the fun out of it.
If you can do it with a drinking straw, a plastic cup, and a coffee filter, then you are being innovative.

sneak into your neighbor's house and turn on all the faucets, wait an hour, then lend him your shop vac.

a bit. If the engine is cold when you do this, there are more toxic fumes.

Better one in your skimmer tha one falling into your boat

out of a tree while putting out set hooks at 2am for catfish on the banks of the river. A 2am drunken swim in a river with submerged brush, a fast current, and numerous alligators seemed like a better idea than staying in the boat at the time.

I've done the set hooks thing on the Edisto...but, without the alcohol and funny story. I was a kid with my Dad. Dad picked a REALLY dark night. We left many of our set hooks as my sister starting freaking out because she was scared.
