Slant routes

Why don't we run more slant routes? They seem to be very effective for most other big time programs.

for 10 years and finally one day he blurts out- "This dang soup is too cold". His family goes nuts because they thought he was mute and asks why it took so long for him to talk. And he says- "Well up to now everything was ok."

you wouldn't expect that with a 6-5 or 6-6 qb,since he should be able to see over the other DL.

The issue is the design of throwing a slant pass.

A slant is a quick bullet not a slow lob. The pass is actually just barely over the DL's head and meant to get out before it can be swatted. The fact that TL is so tall may be a reason it is getting swatted since he is having to throw the ball basically level over the DL.

The few we have attempted have been knocked down....TL needs to "look off" the D linemen IMHO

I think we have finally got Rodgers healthy enough to be a true slot receiver since it requires a quick twitch type of receiver with good hands to beat the backs off the line. But you are right, it would be there every time the way teams are playing us now.

Thank you. I agree - if "bama" can do it so often as successfully as they do - we should have no trouble. If you don't want the passes batted down by the D-line - run a deeper slant pattern.

You might see more next year with Jaylen Lay and Braden Galloway becoming major pass catching threats.
