In the last 2 games he coached, with everything on the line vs top competition, Venables gave up 1134 yds.

In the last 2 games he coached, with everything on the line vs top competition, Aranda gave up 716 yds.

LOL.

Ohio State >> Choklahoma.

Congrats on your win though. Burrow was unreal as a rent-a-quarterback.

You realize last year wasn't our one hit wonder?

Jun 1, 2020, 12:15 AM [ in reply to Re: if he isn't the very best . . . ]

With "everything on the line" and "vs top competition" Venerables has 5 straight CFB Playoff appearances, two national Runner-ups, and two National Champs. Congrats on your one special year. I'd say "See you next season" but that won't happen cause LSU won't even be in the conversation as we make our National Championship run. Good luck though! LMAO.

Wonder why?

Are you proud of your easiest schedule of any Power Five team?
Wake up on 3rd base every Dec and believe you hit a triple.

Clemson is a great team now, got it rolling; the schedule allows young ones to develop, inuried to rest, and makes you look much better than if you actually played some serious competition week after week.

Venables is IMO a Top DC along with Grantham, Aranda and whoever is DC for Saban.

With Aranda moving out and up, expect Pelini to be in that number. LSU lost only 8 Def to the NFLand will be even better on D in '20.

If we lost to OSU, ND, or Oklahoma in the first round of the playoffs you may have a point. Do you think Oklahoma is even close to Clemson as a program?

The "someone serious" you refer to is about 5 teams that can even come close to Clemson's talent. Right now the SEC is the only conference with 1 of those teams on the schedule in (Bama, UGA, and LSU). At the start of our playoff run the ACC was the only conference that could make that claim in FSU and Clemson.

If one game against "someone serious" wears you down so much that you can't prepare over 2-3 weeks for a playoff game then blame your S&C program. Clemson has built not a team with a star quarterback like (FSU, LSU, and Auburn) but a program that only Bama can compare to. Put us in any conference and you will still see us in the playoffs and likely the NC game.

IMO the 6 most talented teams are bama, tOSU, Clemson, UGA, LSU and UF. The talent level is close. Clemson plays the easiest schedule by far, then tOSU.

Of those 6 top talent teams LSU plays 2 or 3 annually, Clemson plays none. AU and Tamu who LSU play annually, and UTx, also have more talent than any team Clemson plays except for ND this coming year,

Over the past 5 years if Clemson were in the SEC they would annually fight it out to win SEC and would have been in The Playoffs some but not all years; this is hugely due to having great QBs. Note that the last 3 SEC Championships were won by different teams.

Congrats to Clemson for killing their ACC competition. T'is indeed a weak league now. Wish Clemson played someone that could make the game interesting altho I hope to watch the ND game this year.

LSU has won 3 NC games, Clemson only 2. Clemson is a 5 year wonder with an amazingly easy path forward.

As stated, Clemson has won 2 NC games, LSU 3.

If we count Polls, Clemson has won 3 NCs, LSU 4.

Stop saying it as if it's true

Jun 1, 2020, 3:43 PM [ in reply to Re: You realize last year wasn't our one hit wonder? ]

2019-20:
Clemson #3 SOS, 1 loss, ranked #2
LSU # 2 SOS, 0 losses, National Champion

2018-19:
Clemson #2 SOS, 0 losses, National Champion
LSU #4 SOS, 3 losses, ranked #6

2017-18:
Clemson #4 SOS, 2 losses, ranked #4
LSU #27 SOS, 4 losses, ranked #18

2016-17:
Clemson #3 SOS, 1 loss, National Champion
LSU #4 SOS, 4 losses, ranked 13th

2015-16:
Clemson #4 SOS, 1 loss, ranked #2
LSU #5 SOS, 3 losses, ranked #16

2014-15:
Clemson #29 SOS, 3 losses, ranked #15
LSU #7 SOS, 5 losses, UNRANKED

Looks like LSU played a harder schedule in only 2 of 6 playoff era seasons, yet you still had 11 more losses, 20 less wins, and finished ranked higher than us only once. What were you saying about easy schedules?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it would make sense if we didn't beat up on ALL comers tho

Jun 1, 2020, 12:15 PM [ in reply to Re: You realize last year wasn't our one hit wonder? ]

the schedule non sense is cyclical. The sEC East was the worst in college football two years ago. But we have forgotten about that I'm sure. It comes and goes man, ACC was bad last year no doubt about it but they haven't been that down in a while. You beat us last year, be happy, it usually doesn't happen that way so you caught us at a good time with at better team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

When you're as good as we are, a lot of games are going to

Jun 1, 2020, 3:12 PM [ in reply to Re: You realize last year wasn't our one hit wonder? ]

be easy. You all have been there one year and you, yes YOU, think you rule the world. You're nothing but Alabama's little step-brother.

Did you forget already? Clemson typically plays harder

schedules, and Venables is STILL the best in the country?

Personell wasn't the same as its been

Jun 1, 2020, 12:10 PM [ in reply to Re: if he isn't the very best . . . ]

they were good but were not pro typical Clemson defenses. They were young and didn't have the size on the line that he needs. It was basically a rebuild year and we still went to the championship.

Its coming though..don't you worry. That line is about to be back to steel curtain that you didn't get a chance to feel. Would have loved to have seen Burrow against wilkins and company. That little smirk wouldn't have been so smug.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Um, you do know Venables has been in 5 playoffs and Aranda

Jun 1, 2020, 3:31 PM [ in reply to Re: if he isn't the very best . . . ]

just 1, right? You do know Venables has beaten more ranked teams than Aranda right? You do know Venables has more wins in the playoffs than any other DC in the country, right?

Then again, it doesn't appear you thought of any of this. You prefer very small sample sizes... because it's all you got.
