Why would a HBP out of the strike zone

Be considered a strike/out?

It should be a ball...

Like it has been in the past. They just added that so players don’t stick out limbs to get a free base. They should just reverse it ASAP.

They thought he moved into the ball , which he didn’t.
At worst it should have been a dead ball and pitch over because he didn’t move out the way.
The VT batters didn’t move either.

The rule is if the ump thinks a player leans into the pitch to try to get hit, it’s called a strike.

If a player just stands his ground and makes no attempt to move out of the way, it’s called a ball.

Bo definitely didn’t lean into the pitch, so I have no clue why the ump called it a strike, resulting in strike 3. At worst, it should have been ball 3. We got hosed on that call.
