Bad matchup. Lamar is a run stuffer. Need more pass coverage LBs like Joseph and O'Daniel on the field. Also allows us to add a DB.

I'm assuming because he lacks the speed to continuously cover backs out of the backfield?

I would have liked to see him play a little in a 3 x 4 defense just to give our guys some breaks but my opinion does not count. But yes the matchup was not favorable. This was small agile fast guys on small agile fast guys..

Nickel is three corners, 4-2-5 is generally three safeties.

K'Von plays both so ours is a little murky.

The only thing I have ever seen a nickel package do is prevent you from winning. We have personnel that want to attack, that is what has made us a feared defense. We need to get back to what has worked in the past and not get cute. (Reminds me of the play in the ACC Championship game when we rushed 2 and dropped 10. Quarterback stood back there for 30 seconds before completing a 30 yard pass)

We ran the nickel package or 4-2-5 more than anything else

In 2015 and 2016 and were pretty successful with it. O'Daniel played only a third of the snaps it seemed except GT. In 2015, Wiggins would come in as a third safety or Adrian Baker or Carter as a 3rd CB.

Bad game plan by coach V to run a dime package and keep more players from our weakest unit on he field. We should have played our usual D and hit that QB until he was scared, instead of letting them set the pace.

We ran prodominantly Nickel the entire night requiring our LBs to be in coverage a lot...apparently wasn’t a good matchup for Tre..:

We use odaniel as our nickel back... so moving a cb in to his spot and having him play olb isn't nickel. It's dime basically.

Tre should have been on the field alot more. I think thats a given, yes hes not the fastest but he will dominate the box and the 10 yards in between, thats why you have him on the short side of the field and have O'daniel on the other side to go sideline to sideline if needed. Why Joseph is still on the field is beyond me, the dude needs to hit the weights. Every time he gets a tackle he gets plowed over and holds on for a tackle but the runner gains an extra 2 or 3 yards after contact.
