Who does everyone consider the best play by play

Nov 24, 2019, 1:25 PM

Guys? Just curious, I see a lot of posts directors towards how bad some are. I think it’s a lost art.

I'm sure people will disagree, but I think Herbie's the best in the business

Not play by play.***

Brad Nessler. I hate that he left ESPN. I used to love it when he called Clemson games.

Yep Nessler and McDonough are all that’s left who don’t make it about them

FSU’s Gene Deckerhoff is great. He also does the TB Bucs.

Larry Munson for Dawgs was the best I ever heard.

Best current TV guys are Fowler, Sean McDonugh, Nessler.

Guys now dead or retired were Keith Jackson, Chris Schenkel, Brent.

Ron Franklin was great and is still alive but he got “me tooed” long before there was even a me too movement.

Yep, pretty sure he did our bowl game against UT on 03.***

Al Michaeld

Really depends on if you're talking radio or TV

Nov 24, 2019, 2:29 PM

as there is a big difference. Radio you have to paint the picture, TV accentuate it. On TV I enjoy Nessler, Jim Nantz, I dont mind Fowler. Old timers like Al Michaels still have their chops. I actually enjoy Gus Johnson because he's so different that the rest. I like Wes Durham.

Radio is far different now, as being PBP at a major school does not carry the cache it used to. Honestly, the only place you have a concentration of still great radio PBP guys is major league baseball. It's still the sport that has a unique forum for PBP. The ones left in college athletics are the ones left from that generation now mostly gone like Deckerhoff.

Nessler. I wish Mike Breen did football games though.
