Who do you have more confidence in

Oct 22, 2020, 7:38 PM

As a head coach, Mac Brown, Manny Diaz or Mike Norvell?
All are trying to turn around programs that were in shambles.
Personally I think Norvell will be the best of these three.
Mac is too old to sustain a rebuild and Manny is more interested in the "bad boy" persona than building a sustainable program.

Mac Brown at Florida State with a young hungry recruiting staff/good coordinators would be dangerous.

Mack for sure. I like him, but can’t stand the heels.

Kamala Harris.

Her Presidency will be too big to fail. Buy stock now. Safe 12-year investment. (She will finish Joe's term, then run for two terms of her own.)

You will not recognize the US in 2032, but your investment in her will be safe.

True that ... except the last 8 years part. But Kamala will escort Biden out with media support quickly.

Hey!

That's not my vote!

She's a SF liberal who has no concept of real world economics because CA produces so much easy money. I would live to be wrong on Nov 7 (after the PA mail-in ballots are counted). But if Joe wins, he's just a placeholder. Harris will reign for 12 Super Bowls.

I agree with the others that Mack Brown so far appears as the correct answer. He's made a pretty big difference in a short period of time, which I'm sure UNC was expecting. Sure he's older, so if you want someone that's going to be around a while to try and build a program to challenge us, I'd have to go Norvell over Diaz.

Problem with Norvell, there was an awful LOT of discord between him and key players over the summer that I honestly thought was unwarranted, but sure looked to be a big distraction in the early FSU games. If the new QB settles in to permanently take over the starting job, that may go a long way to pulling the whole team/staff together. They always have talent at FSU (except maybe OL), so they just need for someone/something to get that program back on track.

As for Diaz...forget about it! I'd be surprised if they have much success after this QB transfer is gone. QB has been a huge issue there for years and I look forward to them struggling and firing coaches for the foreseeable future. Would serve that thug wannabe program right too.

Norvell. 70 yrs old is too old to "build" a program.

Hmm...

Near term - Mac Brown hands down. Mac's been to the mountain top and has already considerably improved UNC from where they were two years ago. Mac just turned 69 so he still has some good coaching years left in him but at some point in his 70's Mac will probably hang it up and pass it on to somebody else.

After his dismal rookie year, Manny Diaz is trying to keep Miami afloat through Jr/Sr transfers which at the rate he is going is unsustainable. I think Manny is rolling the dice trying to have one big winning season in order to buy some good will among their rotten fan base and to help his recruiting pitch. If it works it may buy Diaz some time to build Miami in a sustainable way. Having said that, I'm not sold that Manny Diaz is a very good head coach and would not be surprised if Miami ditches him within the next 5 years.

Mike Norvell is going to have time to build the program at FSU. If for no other reason that FSU can't afford to fire him after the Willie Taggart debacle. For better or worse, FSU is stuck with Norvell. Regardless of FSU's first half performance against UNC last week, FSU has significant problems that are not going to be solved this year. Norvell had a rough start but if his track record follows him he will be successful at FSU - just how successful is yet to be seen.

Very fair and reasonable assessment in my opinion.

Mack has done well at UNC but he doesn't have much time left. Too old. He seems to have learned a lot from his blunders at UT.

Manny hasn't yet proven to me he can be a successful head coach. I'll reconsider after the season. However I'm inclined to give D'Eriq King the credit for them having an offense that is worth a dime. I might have to punt on Manny for another year.

Norvell should be fine but my strong confidence in him has been shaken for various reasons. I still think he can turn FSU around eventually.
