Which would you prefer?

Feb 5, 2019, 2:00 PM

4 straight NCAA tournament appearances with 4 1st round losses OR 1 tournament appearance in 4 years, but the 1 trip is to the sweet 16?

4 straight losses. If you gave me 2/4 years with 1 sweet 16 and the other being round 1 or 2 (doesn't matter) I would take that

I am all about consistency. Last year was great but getting to the tournament needs to happen more than once every 4 years.

4 straight years and it's not even close. Each year there is hope when you go to the tournament to win a game or two there. You ave to get there to have that hope. I like watching is play there too.

Rather know I got to the SB and loss, than not get there at all.

Of course. The Sweet 16 isn't that big of a deal and it doesn't compare with the SB. If the question asked if we could play for the title or go to the Final Four then I would take that over 4 one and dones. The question was about a sweet 16

Uhhh...
No...I totally agree, but as I stated in my post....That's what it made me think of.
A debate that went on for many years of whether folks would rather get to the SB
and lose or not get there at all....nothing more.

How about this scenario? Would you rather win one national title in hoops and then miss the tournament the next 9 times, OR would you rather go to 10 straight Final Fours?

Consistency, as in 20 win seasons, of which Coach Brownell has had only 3 in the previous 8 years.
It used to be, and I suspect it is still the case, that 20 wins would get you a trip to "The Big Dance".Clemson has only made that trip twice under BB.
So for me, I would like to see a little better recruiting of basketball players(Purnell favored Athletes), which should give you that consistency year in and year out to make the Tournament, not just every 4 years or so.
Once in the tournament, then let the chips fall where they may because only a few teams ever really make it to the Sweet Sixteen.
