True - I'll never forget him running roughshod over that tired OU defense in the 2nd half of the Orange Bowl, finishing with 150 and 2 scores.

When you think of running backs that make it in college

Nov 3, 2020, 9:15 AM

football, much less the NFL, they normally have at least one of three attributes.

1) They are fast as lightning.
2) They are shiftier than a nine speed transmission.
3) They are big and strong enough to run over people who get in their way.

Gallman doesn't really have ANY of those attributes. But, as Dabo would say, he learned to do the common things uncommonly well. Things like pass blocking, catching the ball out of the backfield, and not fumbling it away. I said it before, he could get cut tomorrow, and he would already have FAR exceeded any NFL career I thought he had a chance at.

Not sure what kind of transmission Gallman has, but he clearly has the heavy duty towing package.

I agree, and I think the Barkley injury this year has potentially expanded Gallman's career further. I believe this was the final year of his rookie contract, and based on the playing time he had going into this season I was afraid that we'd see a quiet end to his career where he'd end up not being signed by anyone else. I think the way he's played in the opportunities he's received this season may very well land him a contract with another team next season. I'll probably still likely be as a backup, but it'll keep those checks coming for awhile longer.

True. The League does value those who have proven to be

reliable role players. He may not get superstar money, but even the league minimum is WAAY more than even a top paying job in the "real" job market for someone his age.
