What was Tony Elliott's best play as a player?

Jan 28, 2021, 5:37 PM

I remember him on the field, but my old age (and the beer to soothe my nervousness during almost any and every game) makes things hazy.

Extra points for video, as I'm having trouble searching YouTube.

Elliott’s career stats:

2001: 1 reception for 3 yards
2002: 10 receptions for 166 yards
2003: 23 receptions for 286 yards

He also rushed the ball 1 time in 2003 for
10 yards.

Doubt he has many plays that made the highlight reels.

Just my two cents.... His best play was not on the field... Probably before he got to the field, he walked on, made a decision to work very hard in a very competitive environment, majoring in Engineering technology or something close to that. Give him Kudos for taking a very difficult road and molding him into what he is.... Smart, successful and a Clemson man.

I think I remember him making a long catch against GT. I think woody was the QB. I think it was at GT. I think that game went down to the wire. 45 to 42 or something like that. Woody ran in the winning score. Could be wrong though. Long time ago.

I know the play you’re referring to.

My memory always wants that to be Tony as well...but I finally looked it up and it was actually Matt Bailey.

2001. One of the best games I’ve ever seen in person.

This is what you’re talking about. Our defense under Reggie Herring was atrocious. “We got who we got.”

Caught a low throw in the 63-17 game close to the goal line. Didn’t score but I believe Chad Jasmin did later.

I don’t remember Tony Elliot from a stat/number perspective, but he was a pretty common name in conversations of Clemson football during those days.

Right, that's kind of how I remember him. Can see the name

Still can’t believe that game was not on any TV platform.
At that time...it was a big deal to blowout GT like that.

far his best game that year. In 2003 he had 5 for 31 and a TD vs. GaTech. So both of his career TDs were against the bees. The 5 was his high career reception game. The 85 yards was his career-high game. Bee killer!
