On 16 carries.

Read option with TL16 was highly effective.

When he is in the game, defenses play to him. His ability forces teams to pick their poison and opens up opportunity in the passing game. And, as you pointed out, it certainly gave TL plenty of opportunities for big gains.

ETN had runs of 13 and 15 yards last night.

No long breakaways, but not too shabby.

You can’t be great if you can’t run the ball effectively. When you rely on the passing game, three things can happen, and two of them are bad! The Tigers looked a little better yesterday but opponents are going to key on ETN. In another post I mentioned the possibility of having a second running back in the backfield to perhaps force the opponent to focus less on number nine. Dixon looked especially good in the game last night. In fact, I think he was the best I have seen from him. Obviously the Hokies were not expecting him to be that good! How would having bothETN andDixon lined up with TL before the snap affect the defensive scheme ?

I’m perfectly fine not running the ball great if we are still scoring over 40 points per game.

We would all love to be able to both run and pass extremely well every game and have 800 yards of offense per game, but that’s not realistic. Teams are going to try to take away something. I’m confident we will continue to be able to score as many points as we need to in order to win.

I’m more concerned about our defense being consistent...

and who are you going to take out to have two running backs? Note that when ETN isn't in the game, defenses play more pass protection thereby making it easier for the run game. When you put 8 in the box it's hard for 5 to block 8 for runs but they can pass protect pretty good.

Easy answer.one less receiver! This is not something you would do for the entire game. You could do it just to give the defense a different look.
