He said it was suppose to be a run into the A-gap, but Travis basically did his own thing on feel, bounced it outside and took off.
I've heard Elliott say a couple times that as runner he almost needs try to not mess up Travis because he's such an instinctual runner.
As RB coach, would you be upset if you guy didn't stick to the ###### regarding hitting certain holes on a run call or are you cool would him freelancing? I think I'd be cool with the freelancing from Travis. Not so much with Fuller or Choice. I wouldn't treat everybody the same.

When I played football back in the day I scored a long TD run by not hitting the right gap. Coach got PO'd at me after the play. Was kind of depressing honestly

was designed to go. Watching it live, it looked like he took a few steps in that direction, saw the congestion, and quickly decided to take it around the end. Nothing wrong with that when it works

They have a knack and a feel for finding the hole and then exploding thru it. Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmit Smith, tony Dorsett, Gale Sayers all were instinctual backs. Then you have those those that can create their own holes, Bo, Herschel, Franco, George Rodgers and such.

I do not see a problem with this run! Would be different if he changed directions once or twice. Causing a 10 yard loss.

IMO, had he stayed inside....might have gotten a 5 to 8 yard run v/s his
decision to bounch outside for the 81 yd run.

If I were him, I would have no problem with the change based on what he sees on the field. If I were him though, no one would even know it, because I'd be like "That is exactly like I drew it up, and I'm the smartest OC ever"

So now we know what many have known for
some time now, when a play does not work
it's all on the coach that called the play
and not all on the player
A better than average coach will call a play
that they know the player has a better chance
of making something out of it
Not always calling for the player to run the play
the coach wants
Game time speed and other team players have a voice
on the out come of the played called, not like running
a play in a controlled practice setting
Don't know who is calling the play but when Dabo has
headset on and holding play card the "O" looks/plays better
Some will disagree I invite them to pick any game/games
watch the replay
