Also remove all names from Interstates and expressways. Just leave them as a number. Don't even name bridges or intersections. Don't rename streets to "honor" someone. Will that help? Probably not.

I believe this is just going to cause a more divided Country. And if people do not get out and support the Republicans many democrats will be elected taking closer to a socialist society.

Don't think the leftists wouldn't do it if they could get away with it. They hate Washington and the rest of the FF as well. They would dynamite the Washington Monument tomorrow if they had their way.

Yes, we are in a world gone mad. Slavery was a world wide institution at the time. We were the first country to end it in our society. You would think we could look back with pride that we ended it and have struggled since that time to find harmony together. You would think our history would be a constant reminder of how we led the world to a better place. But no, we have to tear the country and each other apart over something that not a single dadgum one of us alive had anything to do with. By the way, racist individuals still exist and always will. But this “systemic racism” in America is complete nonsense.

You are correct. My intent was to say we were the first country to fight a civil war to end slavery in society. If that’s not correct share the info. Regardless, my point is that we have come so far. We have struggled so much. Let’s not rip the country apart over systemic racism that does not exist.

Does LSU need to change its mascot. The Fighting Tigers were the Louisiana civil war troops.

Fun fact, in the years immediately preceding the war, LSU was then the "Louisiana Military Academy". And guess who their commandant/headmaster was? William T Sherman. Louisiana actually asked him to fight for their state and he turned it down and predicted the entirety of the war before he was Commissioned for the Union (said this in 1860, one year before Ft. Sumter):
"You people of the South don’t know what you are doing. This country will be drenched in blood, and God only knows how it will end. It is all folly, madness, a crime against civilization! You people speak so lightly of war; you don’t know what you’re talking about. War is a terrible thing! You mistake, too, the people of the North. They are a peaceable people but an earnest people, and they will fight, too. They are not going to let this country be destroyed without a mighty effort to save it … Besides, where are your men and appliances of war to contend against them? The North can make a steam engine, locomotive, or railway car; hardly a yard of cloth or pair of shoes can you make. You are rushing into war with one of the most powerful, ingeniously mechanical, and determined people on Earth — right at your doors. You are bound to fail. Only in your spirit and determination are you prepared for war. In all else you are totally unprepared, with a bad cause to start with. At first you will make headway, but as your limited resources begin to fail, shut out from the markets of Europe as you will be, your cause will begin to wane. If your people will but stop and think, they must see in the end that you will surely fail."

We will see, but let’s not delude ourselves. There is a major difference between Tillman and Jefferson. Jefferson was probably the most important political philosopher in the history of the US, that believed in a gradual emancipation, whereas Tillman was a populist leader with an uncanny ability to legislate but was so filled with racism that he couldn’t fulfill his potential as a politician because his hatred was crippling.
The difference to me, and this is all conjecture. But if Jefferson could see UVA today, he would certainly be surprised, but I think he would ultimately be impressed with how far we’ve come. Tillman would be disgusted that black people and women were walking his halls on their way to careers. Just my guess.

... to be able to judge their intentions & predict their reactions in a way that aligns perfectly with your judgement & condemnation of them.
I assume that this system you have developed can easily be applied to discredit anyone almost instantaneously, am I correct?
It appears the only requirement to use this system effectively is the sense of “moral superiority”. If there are any other qualifications please inform us.

I was pretty clear that it was conjecture, Im not pretending to know what they would do. Only extrapolate based on their opinions.

Yeah, Jefferson wasn't nearly as problematic as Tillman. Jefferson merely inherited his slaves (from his wife's family) and felt powerless about stopping it himself. He detested the institution (as did most of the other Virginia planter Founding Fathers such as Madison and Monroe) but didn't have a choice as it was the only way to put food on his table.
That being said, I support taking anything named after Tillman down. Tillman Hall was and should be Old Main as it was named when built. The state and board of trustees only decided to rename it during the 40s at the peak of Jim Crow because other schools in the state started admitting blacks. It was an open shot across the bow to black communities in the state to not send their kids to Clemson or try to force integration there. It was only after Arkansas and Alabama needed the National Guard to force their hands that we realized we'd lose. We subsequently admitted Harvey Gantt with no resistance because we saw what would have happened if we did.
We ignore the fact that this institution was founded by whites and for whites. Tillman made it very clear during his time in the state house and as governor that Clemson was only for white men. I feel like the school does not do its students justice in being open about its past. I applaud Nuk and Deshaun for shining a light into this, because guys like Tillman should not be associated with us at all. Yes, in museums on campus and in history classes we can learn about him, but let's not act like his name on our campus' focal point has always been that way. It hasn't. It's Old Main.
And for those that say leave it up, I give you these quotes from Pitchfork Ben:
"We of the South have never recognized the right of the Negro to govern white men, and we never will. We have never believed him to be the equal of the white man, and we will not submit to his gratifying his lust on our wives and daughters without lynching him."
"We deny, without regard to color, that 'all men are created equal'; it is not true now, and was not true when Jefferson wrote it."
Sorry, but I do not want my alma mater that I paid a small fortune to, to honor a man this despicable and terrible. And no, he wasn't just a "product of the times". We literally had just fought a war 30 years previously that showed the country didn't value that kind of thinking.

To the left Jefferson was nothing more a slave ###### hypocrite. His role in the founding of this country is another big strike against him as the concepts inherent in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution are anathema to the modern Marxist left. They would burn Monticello to the ground tomorrow if they didn't fear the blowback. In another generation or two that's exactly what will happen to it if things stay on the current course.
