Throwback Thursday: Clemson House

Aug 16, 2018, 1:34 PM

My junior year (circa 1999) I knew some girls that lived in Clemson House. On the back of their door was an original Clemson House card with the prices still listed! It somehow survived living in a clear plastic sleeve on the back of the door under the peephole, through 40+ years of rowdy college students in and out. The card has Clemson College on it so it had to have been there prior to 1964 when the college was renamed Clemson University.

So I decided to take it for my own nostalgia. I've had it framed since and it hangs on the wall in my office. Thought I'd share. :)

1952 We moved back to Clemson after my dad got his PHD and my grandmother moved into the Clemson House. Back then it was really a hotel. She spend many years there and we have many fond memories of that hotel.

Can you make a high quality scan and post it as a pdf or jpg?

I love to have a good copy of that.

As someone who lived in clemson house for 3 years, 6th and 4th floor, I appreciate this. But for me, this is especially cool because I lived in 618 for a year, so I can remember looking across the hall at 617 not too long ago.

It's hard to imagine how that card survived until then, but man I'm jealous. What I wouldn't give for a momento from a place that meant so much to me.
