Since no fans will be allowed at the Rose Bowl, why not

Dec 18, 2020, 9:15 AM

move the game to Wallace Wade Stadium -- à la 1942?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1942_Rose_Bowl

"Originally scheduled for the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, it was moved to Durham, North Carolina, due to fears about an attack by the Japanese on the West Coast of the United States following the attack on Pearl Harbor. The federal government prohibited large public gatherings on the West Coast for the duration of World War II; the first significant canceled event was the Rose Bowl Game scheduled for New Year's Day, 1942."

More fans would be allowed if it was played somewhere in Florida, but Durham would be a shorter distance for the team to travel. I think it makes cents.

Texas and Florida seem logical. Both have multiple football facilities and plenty of hotel space.

The state of NC has imposed a 7% seating capacity...

on venues that hold more than 10,000 people.

Wallace Wade Stadium seats 40,000 so attendance would be limited to 2,800 people.

Of course, that's better than zero.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

This is just screwy with many states allowing 20%.

Even the ACCCG. Heck play it at Clemson. I’m sure ND would have been happy to get more tickets. Too late now.

7% is screwy but considering NC is making H.S. basketball players wear masks on the court it should not be surprising. One can however go ride a roller coaster at Carowinds with a bunch of your closest friends.
