There is no reason ever to be 1-10 from FT line

Jan 21, 2020, 10:00 PM

Are ther no more Free Throw specialists out there that can come in and teach these guys. There was a guy in the upstate years ago named Tom Gillouly that taught free throws at basketball camps. He had a bunch of 12 year olds at no worse than 70% by the end of camp. Good lord there is no excuse. You practice every day.

Amt of time they spend in a gym daily you shouldn't have to work on FT's to shoot 70%, must practice missing ft's-

I coached HS BB for 11 years. We shot free throws everyday. However, just as important, we shot them tired. Run, then shoot, etc. It's about rhythm, repeat-ability. I always shot with the kids. I'm a solid 70-80% shooter. Many are better than me . .that's not the point. The point is . . I used to close my eyes. I still shot over 50% with my eyes closed. Why? because it is rhythm, doing the same thing each time. The same bend of your knees, the same point of your elbow. Whenever I see someone, or a team shoot at or about 50% . .gotta laugh. That can be done with your eyes closed :)

From a former players perspective I couldn't agree more. Unacceptable, but I think alot of our recent problems from the charity are due to the wrong people going to the line. For instance Moore and Jemison looked absolutely hideous shooting free throws. The mechanics are so bad. No bend in their shot. No flow. As well as Trapp. If his leg is bothering him that bad with his shot then coach doesn't need him on that court in the closing minutes.
