My father was a freshman in 1939, and my favorite professor in the College of Architectures, Building Science and Management, COL Hugh Webb, was one of the two students that laid out the Stadium in the same era. They made em strong back then!!!! Can you imagine laying out the foundation of the stadium when you were a student, that today is DEATH VALLEY?!?!?! COL Webb was an extremely strong, humble gentleman! True Tiger his whole life!!!

Coach Neely was my dads coach from 31-33 and Frank Howard was his line coach. He said the two were both amazing coaches and he learned a lot from both. He said he was knocked out playing Tennessee one year and coach Howard came on the field to check on him as he said (he was seeing tweety birds) and coach Howard dumped a bucket of ice water on him and told him to get his a.. up and get back to work we still had a game to play. He said back then if you got hurt during the first half and had to come out of the game you couldn’t go back in until the next half. He did say they didn’t win a lot of games back in those times but they all were better men in life after playing for those two. Sounds kinda familiar to what has happened the last 10 years or so the only difference is we are winning the games now but still producing great young men. As a member of the longest tenured iptay family ( dad joined in 1933) the day after graduating. I salute all the tiger faithful during this ordeal and everyone please stay safe and God Bless Clemson
