I was running the North stadium steps (next to the old soccer field back then) in ‘76 (or ‘77) and there were three guys at midfield, the shortest one in soccer gear. Then Obed started pounding 60+ yard kicks towards the hill, and about half of the went through the uprights, wow! The coaches told him to take his time and just hit them straight. They were holding and he was kicking, just to see if he could do it! It seemed like his first time kicking at the uprights. They figured out he could kick In Death Valley that afternoon, and Coach Ibrahim lost a soccer player!

Had the privilege of Obed spending Thanksgiving with us in 1980 I drove to his apt in Pendleton and picked him up. I assume I took him back on Sunday. We had a great time. Arranged for a tour of Springs where the sheets were cut, folded, and packaged. BB Roddey was the facility manager. And it was a hoot cause everyone knew about it ahead of time. Great memories
