Not sure about someone ticking him off, but I know he's now ticked a bunch of us off! I wish him personally the best. But hope his new team sucks.

Not that much doubt existed. Still.

Bad move, Tavien. You were featured quite prominently last year...highlight films are full of your successes. Best of luck, from a disappointed Tiger fan.

Jul 29, 2019, 9:56 AM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Former Clemson RB reportedly will transfer to Gamecocks ]

For those who normally say this, you need to be saying it now. You don’t get to pick and choose who you say it to. I always am the one guy taking offense to those who chose to walk out the door. They divorce themselves from Clemson. I don’t care if they got a degree. That’s paper. If you’re a Tiger, you bleed Orange, and exhale purple. It’s a lifetime love affair. Not something you can walk away from. Because if you can, you never were committed. You never were a Tiger. If you can xfer away from the most hallowed grounds on this planet, you were NEVER a TIGER! I’d rather ride the bench eternally at Clemson, than star ANYWHERE else. That’s what being a Tiger is. If you can walk away, you never were a Tiger. Period!

2024 student level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As far as Tavien goes...

Jul 29, 2019, 10:07 AM

.....he’s just another kid “all about himself” from Spartanburg who will never make it very long in the NFL. Stephen Davis was the best to come out of Spartanburg. I grew up in that area. Ashamed of Tavien. Expected more. He never lived up to the hype. He was a 3* at best. Afraid of contact. Lyn-J will be a better back anyway. Feaster won’t hold up 6 games behind that horrible line at USuCk. He’s known to have weak shoulders. He will not be featured, because he doesn’t know the playbook. I foresee him lasting 2-3 years in the NFL. He isn’t as talented as Gallman. Gallman is barely holding his roster spot at the Giants. He could have made up for his mediocre career with a breakout season. IF he put in the work. I doubt he did. THAT seems to be the difference. He was constantly outworked by backs with less talent. Who outperform him day in, and day out. I hope your season is a bust in Columbia. Transferring to SC is slap in the face to every Clemson fan who ever believed in you.

He has proved beyond any doubts that it was never about his team or winning championships, it was always about himself and what he demanded from our coaches, and that was put the ball in his hands or he would transfer to the school up the road. I'm glad he is gone, and I do not wish him success anywhere but at Clemson bc I am allorangeallthetime52, it's not just a screen name, it's who I am!!!!!

Re: I’ve always cringed at once a Tiger, always a Tiger

Jul 31, 2019, 8:33 PM

My understanding is he is in a rough financial position personally and to him he has to make it to the NFL. I don’t know that this move will help him at all, but he just graduated, played in two national championships. Did not leave like jelly running his mouth and has never disgraced or embarrassed Clemson University. I wish he had chosen a different school and I wish him the best except when they play us

Why shouldn't he be focused on himself? No, I didn't want him to go to USC, but this idea of it being negative because its a "me, me, me" decision is stupid and only something fans say. I guarantee you no one on either roster or coaching staff or professional scouts look at him as being selfish. Its actually a good look for him as a smart business man.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Former Clemson RB reportedly will transfer to Gamecocks

Jul 29, 2019, 12:59 PM

dogunwo, you can't guarantee what you say - an absurd statement. Yes, people can be selfish - but doesn't mean it is a good thing to be so. Feaster didn't deserve any more playing time at Clemson than he got. He won't be seen by any more scouts at cootville than he would have at Clemson. Clemson stood by Feaster but he wouldn't stick by Clemson... and to go to cootville would be the ultimate disrespect. Feaster is not a full time back. He never should have been rated a 5 star and never lived up to the hype. He is a good situational, parttime back. At USux he will be used and abused, ala Lattimore. Bad decision by him. He would have got more carries and exposure at Clemson this year. Don't wish him well anymore just as he hasn't been loyal to Clemson or been appreciative.

Re: show the coaches

Jul 29, 2019, 9:11 AM [ in reply to I wonder if he would've chosen VT had Clemson been on their ]

I know that athletes use this type of grudge to fuel their motivation, but i really think the coaches got it right.

So much of rushing the football from the spread is based on split-second timing, not straight-ahead burst. I always felt like TF was trying to run through all obstacles like a cannonball, when a tiny hitch in the backfield could have allowed the pulling linemen to break open a running lane as wide as the one he ran through at NCSt.

His power, speed, hands, and will are obviously excellent. He made numerous great plays for us. I just thought he sometimes didn't 'feel' the play developing as well as Etienne and later Dixon. And 'feelings' can't really be taught. You have to develop them yourself.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wrong? He had the second-most carries behind ETN.

Jul 29, 2019, 9:35 AM [ in reply to I wonder if he would've chosen VT had Clemson been on their ]

How could they be wrong? Should we have started TF over ETN? That’s quite the tough argument for TF to make.

string this year or possibly a 2A and 2B situation with him splitting backup reps with Dixon (which is basically what he was last year getting just 1 more carry than Choice). That tweet he put out shortly before entering the portal made it sound like he had been jumped in the pecking order at RB a 2nd time (the first being Etienne beating him out for RB1).

FWIW he only got 78 carries last year in 15 games after getting 107 in 2017.

My thoughts are that he won’t show us anymore than he would have shown had he remained. He will just be on the losing team this year. I will be very surprised if he does any better there, and more than likely not even as well as he would have at Clemson. I wish him no ill will, though. I don’t wish him anything.

Re: TNET: Former Clemson RB reportedly will transfer to Gamecocks

Jul 29, 2019, 8:24 AM

I believe it was Eddie George put it best a few years ago when talking about college connections. He talked about how kids will give up a life time of connections for one year that probably won’t materially change their future prospects for the NFL. He was referring to transferring.

Not that people won’t be cordial to Tavien, but George talked about how him and his many teammates benefited from those school connections well after football. He posited that many of the things they benefited from, probably wouldn’t have been possible if they had transferred. He wasn’t just talking about having a meal paid for, but business opportunities with real economic value.

This guy was a blessing for us in our recruiting wars coming out of high school. TV was the highest rated RB in the state, and one of the highest in the nation. I appreciate him coming to CU and giving his best for four years.

As a native Sandlapper, I have friends that have gone to one school or the other, then continued post graduate education at the other.I hate to see him go, and really wish he was transferring somewhere else. I still choose to root for Tavien in football and in life, except for one day the rest of his life. Good luck young man. I don’t know Feaster is a straight line runner and there’s plenty of film on him now, and he’ll have very little time to get adjusted to their system, and he’s going to be playing behind an inferior Oline. he’s obviously a mercenary, not a team player. I doubt he’ll have much impact against the better teams they play.

These kids really don't care what fans think. They are conditioned from day 1 to block it all out. He's doing what he feels kike is giving him his best chance to get some footage for NFL coaches. In reality he probably will get better chances to succeed against SEC opponents as opposed to the God awful Coastal division had he went to VaTech. Hope he's kept himself in shape.

Re: TNET: Former Clemson RB reportedly will transfer to Gamecocks

Actually, it's my understanding there really weren't as many teams that reached out to him as we think. You have to remember a lot of these coaches aren't going to jeopardize recruiting classes and current locker room chemistry for a one and done guy. SCAR and VaTech are more desperate and can take the risk other programs aren't willing to. My opinion.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wish him luck, except for one game

Jul 29, 2019, 10:07 AM

I hope he rushes for 200+ every game, breaks SCAR single season records in 11 games, then gains ZERO yards rushing with ZERO TD against Clemson, skips out on SCAR Independence Bowl bid, and has himself a nice NFL paycheck. (*) (**)

He seems to be a fine young man who dedicated 3+ years of his life to Clemson. Don't hold this inexplicable decision against him too much.

(*) If he did this, he'd be breaking George Rogers record of 1,894 yds and Marcus Lattimore's 17 TD singles-season records. That is to say, a RB who was going to be 2nd or 3rd on Clemson's depth chart would be the best back to ever play at SCAR. Bailing out on the bowl game saves his knees and further cuts the heart out of SCAR. If all this comes to be accusing Dabo off planting him at SCAR just to stab them.

(**) Alternate scenario: I hope he rushes for 200+ every game, breaks SCAR single season records in 11 games, then gains ZERO yards rushing with ZERO TD against Clemson but it's not enough as SCAR goes 0-12, and has himself a nice NFL paycheck. This works for me too.

Here is what I'm having a hard time figuring out...

Jul 29, 2019, 11:27 AM

From all I'm gathering, Feaster is leaving because he believes that he will drop to 3rd on the roster and wants to go somewhere that will afford him a lot more playing time to increase visibility to the NFL. If what I've read is correct, Feaster thinks he is falling behind Etienne and Dixon. But what makes me scratch my head is if Feaster can't beat out two younger running backs with less experience, how does he think he is going to make an NFL roster against guys that are way better than what he is competing against in college?

I understand that you never want to tell a young man not to reach for his dreams, but I'm not sure transferring to a new school is going to serve his dream in a constructive way - especially at USuC. Quite frankly, between USuC's mediocre O-line and their schedule this year, Feaster's rushing stats will get worse...potentially so bad that even though he may play more snaps, his tape will be so bad the NFL will think less of it than if he had shared snaps at Clemson.

The only thing I can come up with is that Feaster believes he is good enough to make the NFL and that in his heart believes he is getting shafted at Clemson. It's a shame really - especially after seeing how Adam Choice set an example for someone being in his exact position last year...

Jul 29, 2019, 12:25 PM

It will not impact Clemson. It may help the SC Offense, and it may give Feaster the reps he needs to audition for the NFL.

All that said, even with Coach Swinney keeping it classy, it’s a highly questionable move by Feaster that is disrespectful to Clemson University. That’s my take ...

Jul 29, 2019, 12:33 PM

When TF was being recruited, "best in the state" or maybe "best in the region" was all we could hope for. Now we are recruiting at a national level. If we can get the "best anywhere," that means very good players will be transferring. We want the players who have legitimate NFL aspirations. So, as I do Kelly Bryant, I wish Feaster well in his desperation move. I can't criticize him for following a dream. Going to the rival hurts, but, honestly, has he shown us anything we need to be afraid of?

Re: TNET: Former Clemson RB reportedly will transfer to Gamecocks

Jul 29, 2019, 1:25 PM

In 2018 Feaster he had 78 rushing attempts for 440 yards, 5.6 carries per game. Etienne had 204 attempts for 1658 yards, 13.6 carries per game.

Who would Feaster's competition be at USuC, Dowdle (yeah, I had to look that up, that's how forgettable is he)? Dowdle was their leading rusher with 123 attempts for 654 yards last year. He was a 3 Star back and Feaster will literally run circles around him, especially after several years in our system.

Look, the kid sees the writing on the wall. He's nowhere near being the featured back for the best program in the country. While he's not Etienne, he's a definitely a better back than 5.6 carries per game.

As a fan, I agree with everyone saying "…he was never really a Tiger" but from his perspective, this is potentially his last year of ball and the kid probably wants to play as much as possible. Hopefully, Feaster will be the best part of that dumpster fire of program in Colombia, except when he plays Clemson and then I hope he's eaten alive and has negative yards. I also hope he likes losing games and playing for that clown of a coach.

At the end of the day, it's not the decision any of us would've made, I mean seriously go anywhere but there, but I wish the best for Feaster, he worked hard, contributed, and graduated. Hopefully, he'll learn from this decision and be a better human in the long run or maybe he'll just turn into a Gamecock.

Good luck Feaster, try not to be jealous when your team is 4-8 and we're in the CPF again.

Great Teams See 5 Stars Transfer

Jul 29, 2019, 1:52 PM

This is the new normal for great teams. Tavien has worked hard at Clemson and is a fine young man. I’m sorry that college is becoming like the NFL. As long as we are the premiere program in the NCAA, 5 stars will be transferring. I remember when we never had one.

What will happen in the giant parking lot that is Columbia is an unknown.

He did graduate. He did play well here.
My ultimate take is since Dabo wishes him luck in the future, so am I...but those well wishes begin Jan 1. Till then I hope he doesn’t gain a yard and loses every game.

Ehhh. I could be in the minority but I really don't have any personal feelings towards any player that transfers. Sure we all here can denounce Feaster from the Clemson family now but the reality is that he's going to get his degree from here in a few weeks. Also, I'm pretty sure that most of the friendships that he created on the football team throughout the years will be maintained. At the end of the day, we still have a strong RB group currently and the future is as bright as ever with the guys we will have coming in. I'm more excited about seeing what kind of a leap Lyn-J will make this year with more carries, rather than worrying about Feaster heading down I-26.

I think Tavien is a good kid and I wish him nothing but the best in life.

With that being said, this is not a very smart decision on his behalf IMHO. It would have been better for him to just stick it out at Clemson this year. He could have still had a shot at the NFL, even as Etienne's backup (ie Sony Michel and Felix Jones).

Basically he gave up a lifetime of good Clemson connections and rapport for a small chance of decent success in one year at South Carolina.

The question I want to know is, will he be invited to football championship reunion gatherings and Clemson after all this has transpired?

Something tells me that he's going to end up regretting this decision about a year or two down the road.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He’s experienced three losses in three years.

Jul 29, 2019, 11:28 PM

He could double that total by the end of September. The more I look at it, I think they are a 4-8 team at best. Getting used to losing might be valuable NFL xp.

Re: TNET: Former Clemson RB reportedly will transfer to Gamecocks

Jul 29, 2019, 11:59 PM

ESPNU has recently been broadcasting the top 25 games of 2018, one being the CU - Syracuse game. I was impressed at the playing time and success that Feaster had in that game, and others that have been being shown. He was not shorted on the opportunities given to him and he gained some tough yards. It is just beyond me as to why he would want to give us another chance at a championship run to go to play for a school that has no chance of winning its division championship, much less the conference or national title. But to go from Clemson to SC is just incomprehensible to me. How do you do that? If it were just a matter of going to get a degree that CU doesn't offer, no football being involved, I get that. But to go and know you are going to play against your former school and teammates. I don't get that. If he plays for a pro team I will not be a fan of that team as long as he is on the roster, even if it's a team I've pulled for all of my life. What a terrible way to end a career. VA Tech would have been a much better choice IMHO. I hope our D will make sure he gains minimal yardage in the showdown.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We're probably better off without him.

Jul 30, 2019, 4:42 AM

We're playing to win. That's only going to be done as a team. If that means you're second string sobeit. If you're not willing to be satisfied with winning and care more about your touches and stats, then you're better off playing for a team of losers where you can be the best among the worst. That's a clear sign you're not All In.

Good luck. Hope you get your touches and stats.

PS there's a reason those guys at the next level pull so many guys from teams who win. You may find your stats suffer in your new home. You have a whole team of lesser talent blocking for you and you'll be playing in the best football conference on Earth with a brutal schedule. Again. Good luck.

Pro tip. Stay away from the place they call 5 points.

I wish him well but don't believe he is improving his chances to make it at the next level but going there however. He would likely have gotten more yards and attention here as a 3 here then a possible 1 on with a bad line there. Time will tell I guess. He was bitten by the "ME" bug just like KB so we'll see what happens in both cases this year.
