Found this tidbit on a coot board.

Dec 4, 2020, 4:43 PM

********
"Tanner has been using jets owned by board members and/or boosters on his trips. A private jet did leave Columbia’s downtown airport for Gainesville, FL around 3:45 this afternoon, but we have no confirmation Tanner was on that jet. "

*******

Conclusion: Tanner flew to Gainesville to interview Brian Johnson, OC for the Gators.

His name has not been mentioned in the rumor mills. Imagine this: Tanner announces tomorrow that the new HC is Brian Johnson. Can you imagine the reaction of:

1. coot fans - Who? What? Why? You've gotta be kidding me!

2. Gator fans - What? How could he? Why would he leave for such a cruddy job?

Either that or both groups would be sitting in stunned silence.

It really doesn't matter who those idjits hire. History has shown repeatedly it's where coaching careers die. With that said, if someone is interested in setting themselves up financially and is willing to sacrifice their head coaching career doing it, it's an ideal place to go.

Ok sir. You need a real football team to follow. You lurking following coot developments is disturbing on many levels.

Hahahaha my first thought when I saw the author.

I think he’s just looking out for us though.

That seems to be the trend, doesn't it?

Gainesville to Columbia? Worked out well the previous two times...not!

While they're certainly not the brightest bulbs in the box

you'd think by now they have learned their lesson about hiring coaches from Florida.

What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result.

That's uof6c athletics in a nutshell for you.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Another possible explanation:

Todd Grantham is the DC at Florida. Shane Beamer worked with Grantham while both were at VT. So, Beamer is assembling his staff. He's getting Grantham on board as DC.

For the record, here is my conclusion: The plane had nothing to do with Florida, South Carolina, the coaching hire or anything else football related. It is far more likely it was strictly a business trip by some guy needing to fly to Gainesville.

But, that conclusion is boring. It's much more fun to come up with something exciting.

Some coot Trustee had to go get his Cafe Risque on . . .***

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Back in Black

Dec 4, 2020, 6:44 PM

They're old, but Brian Johnson and the rest of the living AC/DC boys can probably still rock it. I guess "Back in Black" would be the new theme song. Or maybe it should be "Dirty Deeds".

Dec 4, 2020, 7:36 PM

Why would Grantham leave Florida for the same position at USuC ? Makes absolutely no sense.

I don’t understand why most of these guys would be interested in the job. If you’re already a Power 5 head coach why go to that dumpster fire? Sure you can make lots of money but you’ll have unrealistic expectations put on you by a fan base that is crude, rude, and just down right dirty.
