Skalksi to return again next year?

Thought of the morning:
Skalski has already missed several games due to his groin scope, and looks like he will at least miss the next game against FSU (possibly even more). What are the chances that he returns next year with the NCAA making this year a freebie? Would love to see him have one more year in an orange jersey and possibly the chance to increase his draft stock. Thoughts?

needle towards having a shot in the NFL with his play, until this injury took him out. A great finish to this year, followed by a great year next year, and he might have a real shot.

Yep. Truly enjoy watching him play much as I did Boulware.

I would think it would probably depend on his draft grade and how tired he is of school.
My son basically gets 6 to play 4 for much the same reason - this year being a freebie during the COVID outbreak - and he's decided to take full advantage and is going pre-law. He thinks he can graduate (debt-free!) with a law degree or very close courtesy of football...so he'll play the full six if he can. Some guys on his team are doing similar things; others are burned out on school and tired of the grind and are ready to get on with their lives...and even though some of them will still have eligibility remaining next year aren't planning on coming back. By the time you're 23-24, a lot of guys are looking to get on with their lives.
But yeah, it'd definitely be a big bonus for us if Skalski returned.

It will be interesting to see where he is graded out when that time comes. Also kudos to your son for using his athletic talents to further his academic success! I've been out of school a little over two years and student loans are no fun lol!

Just a wild guess, but I'd say if he gets draft grade of 4th round or higher he will leave for sure. If he can come back and lead us to success in the playoffs he might go fairly high. He looks the part now and can play at a high level when healthy.

I can't imagine there will be many 5th year seniors who decide to stay for a 6th year.
I think there are some younger guys who will now alter their plan due to the eligibility changes and switch to a 6 year plan.
Remember Skalski has already taken a "play 4 games" redshirt and has been a part of 2 National Championship teams with the Tigers.
Also with the way our players typically work academically, I would think he is nearing his second Clemson degree already and may have to start progress on a third to be able to be eligible next season.

Those are all good points but, realistically, if he can either play one more year of college football or move on into the "real world" he may want to stick around for one more year. I'm not even sure if he would have to attend classes, unless he wanted to. Odds are he won't be highly regarded as an NFL prospect (hope I'm wrong about that) so this would be his last chance to ever play again. It'll be interesting to watch. I do agree that if he were to get a decent draft grade he would, and should, go pro.

It depends on his ability to fully recover.......

and his draft grade. IMO he needs another year of college football to maximize his position with the NFL.

I think he comes back. This will be a bonus as we use next season to bring along some of these top LB’s that we recruited. I think there is a very reasonable chance that several others will also do this (players such as our punter)

That would be cool if it works out for him!
Maybe throw in a some Education courses to increase his long-term marketability as a coach?

He’s proven all he can in college football. He’s a great and instinctive player on the field. At this point, his 40 yard dash time is the only thing that with change his draft grade. NFL GMs usually go brain-dead after the combine and draft off measurables.
