Read somewhere that Justin Fields would apply for a hardship waiver

Jan 10, 2019, 7:44 AM

To try and be immediately eligible at OSU. Belk broke through this barrier to players. But I wonder what hardship Fields would claim—anybody know? Is it that his football coach wasn’t that Smart?

That he was treated with racism by baseball players and fans

That’s well documented so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work

Ahhh I do remember that! And suddenly I feel like a ####.

If that’s truly the reason then he should get it.

Don't feel bad, it's just an excuse so he can play sooner

Jan 10, 2019, 7:54 AM

More likely he's leaving because he failed to win the starting job and Ohio State's QB situation is wide open.

Fake punt made him look bad to UGA fans.

I read that he would use racism as the reason. the UGA

Jan 10, 2019, 7:48 AM

baseball player that yelled something racist at him. The baseball player was reportedly kicked off the team so it must have been legit. Not sure where I read that but it came out when it was first announced he was considering transferring.

there doesnt seem to be much of a threshold anymore for these requests so I think he can pretty much request anything he likes. some guy got one because his mom broke her arm

Fields will use the racism reason and my guess is the NCAA won't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

However, if the NCAA really wanted to make sure these transfers were legitimate reasons to play immediately, they would have to ask themselves some questions. First, Fields was not within earshot of the baseball player when the racist comments were made. Many others heard the comments but Fields did not.

After learning of the racist comments, Fields and his family chose not to pursue any action against the player or the school. Basically they said they just wanted to drop the whole situation. If it wasn't a big enough deal then to pursue any action, why it is all of a sudden such a hostile environment that he cannot play football at UGA. Especially after the student who created the hostile environment has been kicked out of school.

Also, and most importantly, Field's sister is a current student at UGA and she has no plans to transfer. If the school is racist against all African Americans or the Fields family specifically, wouldn't she need to transfer as well?

Again, my gut tells me the NCAA won't get near the race card with this one and they have already shown that they will allow players with any excuse, no matter how weak, to transfer and play immediately as long as they lawyer up first.

The fact that a "hardship waiver" is needed is dumb.

Jan 10, 2019, 8:19 AM

Players should be allowed to transfer and play. Period, full stop.

Re: The fact that a "hardship waiver" is needed is dumb.

Jan 10, 2019, 8:25 AM

I disagree. These guys basically sign a contract that in exchange for free tuition, room, and board, they will play for and committed to the team. It shouldn’t be easy to break that commitment.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They do NOT sign 4-year contracts this way.

Jan 10, 2019, 8:27 AM

No, sir, they most certainly do not.

I wouldn't have a problem with schools offering, and students accepting, 4-year contracts like this, but I'm not aware of anyone doing that.

He could just admit that he's not that good, and will never play QB at UGA, so the NCAA should feel sorry for him. If OSU takes him and he plays, their team will fold like a cheap umbrella.

he stayed at the school, he stayed on the team, he went to classes supposedly, so he mustn't have been to afraid! He is a spoiled kid who as an athlete has been catered to his entire life and couldn't beat out a little above average QB, and now wants to throw a tantrum. I hope the NCAA doesn't cave but this is probably one where they throw up their hands and approve it cause he claims UGA is racist. I hope TATE MARTELL keeps him on the bench and see what new reason he comes up with when he transfers from OSU!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up
