Why We Have To Join The SEC

Apr 10, 2013, 7:14 PM

If we do not join the SEC somehow someway, we will most likely be relegated to a position of mediocrity in football in the future. Check out this link:

To be honest you guys are the only team who I think should be in the SEC

hate to say it and be a negative nellie but imo it will never happen. it is all about new markets for tv revenue. it looks like a nc school and a virginia school will be the next two. speculation is ncsu and vt.

Re: Re: Why We Have To Join The SEC

Apr 10, 2013, 7:42 PM

As long as SC and Ga veto us, we will never be there. Same with FSU, Miami, and GT.

It would be a NC school or VT that has the best chance.

Hogwash, It's not decided that way.

Apr 10, 2013, 10:37 PM

One school cannot decide what's best for the conference. If Clemson does not get into the SEC it's not because of Scar or Uga. It'll be other factors.

"We establish no religion in this country, we mandate no belief. Nor will we ever. Church and state are, and must remain, separate." ~Ronald Reagan

This is true. Here's something else that is also true:

Apr 11, 2013, 1:34 PM

Clemson will not join the SEC anytime close to the near future.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: not going to happen

Apr 10, 2013, 7:42 PM

First, the SEC has to want us. They are looking for TV markets. Already have SC.
Second, Clemson has to want to go to the SEC. Certain portions of the fan base aside, I haven't seen any indication of that desire.
That means Clemson just has to put the big boy pants on and recruit and play to our strengths. Recruiting is getting better. Defense is looking better. I like the direction we are heading and don't think we need the SEC initials to compete at the top level.

Take Saban out of the SEC and the SEC is not all that

Apr 10, 2013, 7:51 PM

Impressive. Don't get me wrong, the SEC would still be good, just not dominant.

This too shall pass

you think Notre Dame would have beat Georgia?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You wish that were true, cockboy. Unlike uSUC, Clemson

Apr 10, 2013, 7:54 PM

doesn't need a conference to use as a crutch.

Clemson can accomplish anything and everything while in the ACC... a league you have a woeful losing record against.

What kind of pathetic, juvenile loser pretends to be a fan of his rival school anyway?

Re: You wish that were true, cockboy. Unlike uSUC, Clemson

You dont want a challenge? You and Fsu are the only ones ranked
The Sec has 7 ranked teams :)

Apr 11, 2013, 1:05 PM [ in reply to Re: You wish that were true, cockboy. Unlike uSUC, Clemson ]

Uum, no.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually most SEC fans will root for their rival

Apr 10, 2013, 11:10 PM [ in reply to You wish that were true, cockboy. Unlike uSUC, Clemson ]

provided their rival is in the SEC.

Back in Bama, Alabama fans were going CRAZY cheering on Auburn to win the BCS title, and vice versa for Auburn fans rooting for the Crimson Turd.

Seriously, makes me want to throw up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would uga veto clemson?

Apr 10, 2013, 8:16 PM

I understand why usce would. It's a recruiting advantage for them particularly in-state. But yes I've always thought clemson should be a part of the sec.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Why would uga veto clemson?

Apr 10, 2013, 9:49 PM

Would y'all veto GT?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wouldn't mind if they joined.
Not that big of an impact

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Allegedly

Apr 11, 2013, 9:52 AM

there's an agreement between Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Kentucky to vote to keep FSU, GT, Clemson, and Louisville out of the SEC

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Why We Have To Join The SEC

Apr 10, 2013, 8:26 PM

Why we won't join the SEC?
They won't ask us.
And if you are not asked, you can't join.
So thanks for a moot conversation!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How Do We Join The SEC? Do you

Apr 10, 2013, 8:47 PM

say may I?

Is it like getting a credit
card?

Is it like fraterniy rush?

wrong...most of the sec is mediocre***

Apr 11, 2013, 9:08 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well actually it does work that way.

Apr 11, 2013, 9:09 AM

The schools have to vote on who can enter the conference and they do have veto power. Uf did it to fsu awhile back. The schools empower the conference, not the other way around. I don't believe that we would veto clemson because it would not change the dynamics of our recruiting. I do believe that we would veto Gt though because they are our in-state rival and their presence would change recruiting for us.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you could put GT in the NFL and they would still suck

Apr 11, 2013, 9:24 AM

degrees offered by Stanford

GT offers the following degrees...much more limited with a very narrow focus

No. Just no.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: you could put GT in the NFL and they would still suck

Apr 11, 2013, 9:26 AM

They can recruit there. Paul Johnson just runs a high school offense and players don't want to play in that kind of system.

Apr 11, 2013, 10:01 AM

When and if the new academic requirements for NCAA scholarships are enacted, the Dumb Dumb League as Frank Howard used to call the SEC will find difficulty getting athletes in and the brighter athletes will look to go to better academic schools. That is not the SEC.
