Question about 2019 class.

Apr 14, 2017, 12:18 PM

I keep hearing that the 2019 class will not be as small as our previous 2 classes but I've not seen an estimated number of available schollies that we will have. Does anyone know how many available schollies we will have? I realize that attrition and leaving early to nfl can alter them but I'm looking for a ballpark number.

TigerNet's go-to source for scholarship questions!

http://www.tigernet.com/view/scholarships/football.do

Currently shows 27. There will be some juniors and sophomores leaving after next year plus some attrition for other reasons.

Wait a minute, so if we have 28 or so scholarships available in 2019, we will only be able to use 25 of them with the new rule?

I've been wondering about this.... would it be to our advantage to leave a couple of scholarship slots empty for the following year. That one class is so big already

It'd be more to our advantage to find a way to morally

move a few on early to use them . Empty scholarships for a year does not benefit us. Again, not saying pull any scholarships.

They wouldn't exactly be empty.

They would go to some senior walk on or something and then would be available for the next class.

Coming out of NSD under the limit

is short sighted. For one reason or another you'll always lose 1 or 2 between Feb and Aug with a couple of walk ons having to use those scholarships(IE Baker and Scott making their decisions after NSD this year). There'll be enough of them leave this year(early draftees and 5th year guys ALREADY with degrees) to help out with the numbers in the following class.
