Question about ACC teams opting out of bowl games

Dec 12, 2020, 7:13 AM

Do you think ACC teams who opt out of bowl games deserve to get a monetary split of the money other ACC teams make by playing a bowl game or CFP games? Does Notre Dame have to split their money or are they exempt?(Have not heard about this issue since ACC commish let them in ACC race for the covid year.)If covid continues next year, does the ACC bow down to ND again without making them join permanently? My answer is NO,YES,and NO.What do ya'll think?

Now THIS is a valid point. I respect the idea of not playing a bowl game

For many reasons. But ultimately it does effect our pocket book. Why should we split revenue with them if they are choosing not to play in a bowl game.

I know the easy answer is no and I understand that, but it IS to our advantage to help strengthen the conference. And since I am empathetic to teams saying enough is enough this year, I say we share the revenue. I think we have the strength & wealth of program to be magnanimous in this year of all years. Let's take the high road.

No. This should mean they are opting out of the money, too.

But I seriously doubt it will happen that way.

Let’s Hold On...

Teams are opting out, but bowls are starting to opt out as well. This may take care of itself.

Some of the ACC bowls have already canceled.....

Dec 12, 2020, 9:07 AM

And with the ‘everyone gets a trophy’ model this year, they’ll take anyone for the remaining bowls....my guess is that teams below BC & Pitt will fill those slots....

Here’s a guess....

CFP: Clemson, ND
Orange: Miami
Cheez-It: UNC
Gator: N.C. State
Duke’s Mayo: Virginia
Military: Va. Tech
First Responder: Wake
Gasparilla: I guess GT or Louisville at this point if they want to.

Sun, Holiday, Pinstripe & Fenway already cancelled.

I don’t think that losing the Gasparilla bowl to a team from Conference USA or something like that will kill the bottom line.

I think BC & Pitt did their duty this year...much more so than FSU, for instance. And some of these bowls start in 2 weeks....not sure it’s worth it for some teams. The old ‘month of bowl practice’ for young players is gone this year anyway.

I am hearing the ##### will probably go to a bowl. This is absurd. But if they do, just another loss.
