WY suffered their first Covid-19 death last week. Why can't they stay shuttered another month?
I'm sorry, Bill. It's not funny.
But in spite of all this attention, Covid-19 accounted for 3% of deaths nationally in March. Even in April with the spike in deaths, it will only account for no more than 18-20% nationally. Cancer and heart disease will still lead the nation in CoD this month.

Or any deaths? Don't be ridiculous, K2. Whether the coronavirus is, was, shall still be or was not at all worthy of our response or lack of it, it was always a formidable foe, and we had no reliable game tape on it.
Don't start with the revisionist blame game. None of us--including the epidemiologists--knew how to prevent its spread in a society that values its freedom, respects work and honors achievement.

Actually, no. In only 5 weeks Covid-19 has become the 2nd leading cause of death.
Last week: April 6-12
Heart Disease: 12,626
Covid-19: 12,392
Cancer: 11,437
Chronic lower respiratory disease: 3,279
Accidents: 2,911
etc, etc
The lasting effects of Fox and Trump diminishing the seriousness of this disease is amazing.

My grandson took his first steps, and I witnessed it by video.
I ran into a friend at the PO shipping care packages to a friend serving in Iraq whose base has buttoned up, so their chow hall is closed. They're getting tired of MREs, so my friend and his wife did something to help.
My local Kroger's is hiring.
There's a new manager at Domino's in Eastgate.
One of my neighbors has organized a lending library for the neighborhood.
A poor kid was playing catch by himself with a football when I walked by. I was dying to toss him a few but not sure how his eagle-eyed mom would take that.
The point is that this year might get an asterisk on my personal baseball card, but I'll be d@$%=d if coronavirus is going to get more of my life than that.
I wish more of us weren't so mopey.

At-home and nursing home deaths in particular states have been under-counted. CDC changed their guidelines for counting a few days ago because they know the testing has been prone to false negatives, id est, when it is available.

Agreed.
I don't mean to be disrespectful at all to Bill or wonderful people as senior as him.
But d@%& if pandemics don't have a tendency to make seniors get all morose about life and death.
It's coming. One day, death is coming. It could be from falling off a ladder, or some truck t-bones your Prius, or like CJF, a blood clot from surgery.
Some of us are already on bonus time.
Every day is a gift. If I'm not with the people I love, or doing the things I love, then I want to be working to make their lives better. The only thing that stops me is if working makes them worse.
