It was no surprise.

All indications were he was #1 and Chubba Purdy was #2. When Chubba got hurt it was an easy decision.
Blackmon's problem will be that no one can quarterback from the seat of their pants. And, his biggest weakness for the past two years has been his tendency to hold on to the ball too long and not throw it away. (Well his biggest problem was he was trying to throw the ball while standing behind the worst offensive in the NCAA.)
His play this year will be dependent on 3 things.
1. How much better can the offensive line be? 2. Will he learn to throw the ball away rather than hold on to it? 3. How well can Norvell and the offensive staff design an offense with a mediocre line.
Norvell's offense is more of a timing and rhythm offense rather than a "go through your progressions" passing attack. Blackman has gained weight, but he's still skinny.
All indications are he is a sold kid, a hard worker, a team player, and very coachable. Nole fans are cautiously optimistic, primarily due to the fact that for the past three years (including Jimbo's last year) our players have had very little quality coaching. (Odell Haggins being the exception.)

This kid is tough and he throws a fantastic deep ball. Must be that Gumby windup arm, but he made a deep pass for a TD against us in his first game vs us a few years ago. But you are correct, hard to make that throw from your backsides. BretFSU you seem a good dude, so please understand I'm not throwing shade, but wasnt FSU on the verge of some major stuff a couple months ago? Players saying Norvell was a liar and other allegations?

It's kind of sad that i react the same way to FSU news

these days as i would NC State or GT news. "Meh, whatever."
I think it would be great for both Clemson and obviously the ACC if FSU could get back to a top 10 level - even if that meant losing to them occasionally.

If he can get a little bigger and stronger I think he could be a good NFL QB.
