Out-of-conference schedule - men's varsity basketball

Oct 28, 2019, 9:16 AM

All the talk of having FCS schools on our football schedule got me thinking [yes, that's scary]. I understand the need for having plenty of cupcakes on our basketball schedule due to the rigorous ACC lineup. But why don't we play more in-state schools instead of Colgate, Detroit Mercy, and Alabama A&M??

We do play Presbyterian, but shouldn't we be scheduling in-state schools like Coastal Carolina, Furman, Wofford, Winthrop, etc. --- which helps an in-state school with their athletic budgets? And yes I realize that Winthrop is not always a "cupcake" -- at least not for Clemson.

THIS IS A SIRIUS POST SO I HOPE THE RAG DOESN'T TRY TO HIJACK THE THREAD SMH

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Bobby Robinson, a Furman alum, used to routinely schedule Furman for literally every mens and womens sport Clemson played and people b!tched and moaned about it incessantly.

Colgate was in the NCAA Tournament last year, and lost by 7 to Tennessee.

They return the Conference Player of the Year (big man who averaged over 16 points and almost 8 rebounds per game), a 2nd Team All-Conference player, and the Conference Rookie of the Year.

Easy to see why we're playing this one. This will be a tough game.

Yes the Colgate game was scheduled to play an NCAAT type team like last year Lipscomb and a couple more we had., The Alabama A&M and Detroit games are part of the Las Vegas tourney we are playing the next week.

Yes, but those are teams that are preselected to play the bigger schools Clemson, TCU, and Colorado at their home gyms as part of that tourney before those teams actually go to Vegas.

Colgate will be a good team once they
