Have a buddy who just retired after a long career as a high school official. He said refs at ND game were some of worst he has ever seen. And he is a Carolina grad....

They see it so often, when you point out "that's holding", they will argue and say "no, that's allowed!". We had that discussion on here last week, and I quoted an article by a coach who was teaching how to block within the rules. He advised getting a handful of jersey on each side and controlling the defender that way, as that was allowed by the rules. I pointed out that grasping of the defender's jersey is never allowed, and I showed the rule which clearly and explicitly prohibits it. Yet, some people still want to argue about it and dispute it, even though it's right there in black and white. People think it is acceptable for a blocker to grasp a defender's jersey because they see it being done all of the time. The fact is the refs just do a horribly ###### job and allow the illegal, rampnt holding to go on unhindered.
