Not a Conference Member? No Participation in ACC Champ.

Jul 26, 2020, 10:15 PM

What would be the most effective avenue of expressing one's opposition to allowing ND participate in the ACC chanpionship without becoming a full member in the conference?

Y'mail D'Rad and tell him how you feel about it. Swoffie' only wants contention that actually might lead to $$$ in his pocket. I personally think the ND "Independent Football" thing is about to pass. But, only time and $$$ will tell.

Go Tigers!!!

Bottom line: Conference teams need the $$$. COVID has hurt us financially (March Madness cancelled) and we need the extra viewers ND brings.

Viewership means nothing without a revised TV contract.

It will for this season. The television revenue will be reduced with fewer games. ND allows an option for the ACC to add additional games for many of our conference teams, and also provides more high profile games. It gives the ACC the chance to tell ESPN, "hey, we have fewer games this season, but we still have all these games with ND as well as a possible ACC Championship game between Clemson and ND so we feel we should still receive 100% of our normal revenue."

The ACC will cave and let ND do this. Just like all Swoff's tenure. Big announcements that produce little extra revenue or impact. Just like the delay on the ACCN and the whole goofy ND alliance to begin with. The sooner he goes the better.

Can you imagine the SEC or Big Ten doing something like giving a school eligibility for the football title for one season without membership. What a joke the ACC is. So desperate.

It's hard to say what those conferences would do, but the television revenue for the Big 10 and SEC are much larger than that of the ACC.

The ACC is currently able to distribute $29.5 million to each member in television revenue with $7.9 going to ND.

The Big 10 is able to distribute $54 million, and the SEC is able to distribute $43.1 million.

Of course when you're that far behind you're going to be looking for ways to increase that revenue whenever you can.

Before ND is allowed to do anything in ACC Football there

needs to be a clear layout of the revenue sharing that will occur this year. I really wish Swofford and the ACC Presidents would tell ND that they will have to share a sizeable chunk of their NBC TV money this season if they want to play an ACC schedule this year. If ND balks then tell them fine - enjoy playing Liberty, BYU, Army, UMass and New Mexico State twice this year in order to get their 10 game schedule...

It's articles like the following that makes me wish the ACC would tell ND to pound sand this year:
