My thoughts on ETN

I am thinking him returning for this year is similar to Tajh. Didn’t get the draft grade he wanted. IMO The only aspect that ETN improved on was pass blocking and receiving. He dramatically regressed in the rushing game. This year will hurt his stock rather than improve.

Maybe he affected draft stock. But he improved his NFL skill sets significantly with pass catching ...

What? ETNs issues have nothing to do with ETN and everything to do with the OL

Obviously, I love ETN but there may be something there.

You really think teams are defending us the same with Dixon, and the other backups as they do when ETN is in?

I guess I don't know enough about defensive packages and personnel of the Hokies to speak intelligently to that. You may have a point though.

VT had starters in until late, so yes, pretty much the same

when Dixon was in and made his good runs. Scrubs were in and game over when Melusi and Rencher busted big runs. Besides, it's not like Etienne was absent tonight; he had runs of 13 and 15 yards for God's sake. Nothing wrong with Travis; he has only helped his draft status by showcasing his pass catching ability this year. My only concern for him at the next level is his much like Spiller and Ellington, and that is durability as an every down back. He rarely gets more than 15 carries a game here; it's hard to imagine him getting that many in the NFL.

I think he looked good earlier in the game but when he was on the sideline late in the game standing by the trainer he was talking to her and pointed to his shoulder. Don’t know if he was taking about his our someone else because she did not mess with it?

I agree with you. In spite of what some may think, fumbling the ball and shying away from face to face contact when picking up rushers in pass blocking is 100% on the OL.

No it won’t. No doubt the kid can run when behind a good offensive line. The fact that he did improve in pass blocking and receiving will increase his draft stock.

He didn’t regress, teams are just scared to death of the 2x ACC OPOTY.
Trevor got Covided for a couple of games. The offense on a record pace...

His draft stock topped out this year...he had everything the NFL wants in a runner even last year. The only knock you could have on him keeping him out of the 1st was hands. He more than checked that box. He runs a good 40, he’s a 1st round lock, which is rare for a RB recently.

I'm not sure. There is a lot of tread left on those tires. Our OL play has not been great in the run game. NFL teams should have plenty of tape on Travis running the ball. I think he made some money coming back. Travis on wheel routes and screen passes in the NFL will be fun to watch.

They way i view it is he cannot beat a stacked box. YES he has improved his catching ability out of the backfield. YES he is an elite athlete. He has helped our team huge. The OL play is accurate, but great RB get around that

The way I see it, don't think I've ever seen a RB beat a stacked box with the exception of maybe Barry Sanders and even then...he lost more times than not against a loaded box.
ETN is fine. After he started the season on fire teams are opting to stop him.
TB went from possible 1st RD to a 6th RD pick (he wasn't a GUARANTEED early RD pick and if you guys look at that draft it's hard to see why as there were some dudes picked before him that DEFINITELY shouldn't have been) ; ETN isn't going to fall past the 2nd RD imo and is likely to be picked up in the 1st RD as projected

Every time the talking heads bring it up, they go on and on about him showcasing himself as a “complete back” and improving the likelihood he’ll get paid big dollas.

Fail
2nd round grade last year
Scouts love his improvement this year catching the ball
Most experts have him as the #1 RB in the upcoming draft and expect him to go in the 1st round

He made huge money here. If they like what they see of him running and blocking, they got to see him catching the ball this year which is a huge plus for him.

Plus he has has that Clemson degree, but you're right, 2nd round money last year (maybe) versus top half of the 1st round this year. He made the right business decision. Unfortunately for him, the blocking schemes (or maybe blockers) don't seem to be opening the holes for him this year like they have the past 2 years.

His numbers aren’t what everyone expected but that’s on the o line, replacing four starters was huge and he never got going... but he DEF improved his draft stock they don’t look at his numbers... his pass blocking has improved and has now proven to be a weapon catching the ball.. which is what the nfl guys wanted to see... unfortunately he just came back and is running behind one of the weaker lines we have had in a while

If Travis lays down anything under a 4.37 at the combine or his pro day he’ll be a first rounder. He’s shown them everything else they just want to read the stopwatch.

He will be the 1st RB taken. 1st rnd grade and high on draft boards.
People see: Alvin Kamara when they see TE9.
He made the right decision coming back! Only a 2nd round at best grade last year! His guaranteed money increased by a few million.
